Update on the MY2013 coupe inside

I went to my local MB dealer and got some info on the 2013 C class coupe that is coming in July. The date of the announcement was April 5th. Here are some things that caught my eyes, but there might be something else:

- Eco start/stop (does this provide a better fuel economy)
- changed cruise control/turn signal position to make it more user friendly
- new media colours (the black/silver one... looks more modern IMO but might clash a bit with the tan interior, will need to be seen in person)
- availability of the sport pack on both C250 and C350
- some new colours. One is Polar White. Anybody got pics?
- turn signal is a long, horizontal, yellow led on the bottom of the headlight. Is it the same now?

They also had a white fully loaded C63 Black edition. Looks great, although a tad too busy. Too expensive also.

wow, not bad.

the cruise control stalk is huge! it's definitely in the wrong place. kudos to MB on fixing that.

polar white sounds good and the sport pack as well.

turn signal sounds the same.

I'm not sure what the cruise control stalk is like currently as our car is still on order. But could someone clarify re the media colours? Black/silver sounds nice but what is it at the moment?

Really? never thought the cruise control was in the way or anything.

The Eco start stop is very much like BMW's efficient dynamic's auto start stop technology. It will most likely increase fuel economy within the city, but I can't imagine the strain it places on the car's batts on a stop-and-go traffic scenario (ie. traffic jam) though :S

Not sure what media colours mean, but if DinB was talking about the colour theme in the media interface (LCD screen), the theme is beige w/ black for the 2012.

The turn signal sounds the same as the 2012 model

Hopefully the media color schemes can be personalized based on visual appeal.

OK, here is the link with the Sport Package coupe pictures. The bottom picture shows you the new media screen which is black/silver in colour scheme. At first I thought that this would only come with the Sport Package, but it seems that every coupe will receive this colour update. Current colour theme is more black/brown/beige. I find that the brown theme goes well with the tan interior, but the new one will go better with black/gray IMO. However, I doubt that they will let you change the theme.

The C350 4matic coupes are in production now as 2012s I guess?

When would I need to place an order for a 2013?

Just a bunch of cosmetic things that make the coupe feel like a Civic Si. All the stiching is red, the floor mats have a red outline, red seatbelts (free option to keep the black), seats are made from a suade type material, black side mirrors, different 18" wheels (not a fan). About it I think.

Well the Canadian dealer document said that the cars will be here mid/late July. So, if you want to first batch order in the next few weeks I suppose.

The special sport model (Coupe Sport) will only be available with both 250 engines (not with the 350). The AMG
Plus Sports package can be ordered for every model.

The new models will be produced and shipped in June.

Not sure about this, might be market specific. I saw that one of the options for C350 coupe was the sport package. However, it was circled in red so didn't see what it meant. Doesn't the C350 include the AMG package? (I think that it does in Canada at least).

Probably it depends on the market. My informations were for the German market. In Germany the C350 doesn't include the AMG package. Is topspeed.com a UK or an US website? Because they also wrote that the Sport Coupe will only be available for both 250 versions... In the German online configurator the Sport Coupe's are individual models (like a C63), you are not able to configure a special "sport package".

I asked my sales rep to send me the PDF document. If he does, I will post additional info.

- Eco start/stop (does this provide a better fuel economy)

Is this the feature which will stop the engine in red light? I thought this was removed in North America release because of the fuel requirement.

Will there be any other changes besides this Eco start/stop? I was expecting some minor changes to improve the new DI engines.

I think that Canada will also get Mbrace but it could be a typo.

C350 Coupe
I am in the US and ordered a 2012 C350 coupe in March, which will be delivered mid May. In response to this thread, and worried the the 2013 edition would be available literally about 30 days or so after my 2012 arrives, I called my dealer to inquire about the 2013 c coupe production and whether or not the 2013 coupes would be available in July. I was told that the 2013 c sedans will go into production around June (for August-ish delivery) however there was no information on 2013 c coupe production as of yet. He said that a September/October 2013 coupe production seems reasonable, but definitely not June.

Furthermore, the 2012 4matic coupes just started to arrive on lots which wouldn't make sense for 2013's to show up in a short two months from now...

Can anyone else in the US confirm this information?

I wil verify since I was expecting them in August. On the other hand, none of the changes are really that significant so I doubt that it would take much retooling to change the production to MY 2013.

I have the PDF file with the C250/C350 options. I attached it to this reply.

Also, it appears that, at least in Canada, polar white is replacing calcite (arctic) white and not diamond white like I thought.

The current position of the cruise control stalk is exactly where you see it in the pics provided by the link above, so I'm uncertain about that revision ?? can anyone else shed some light on it

The only thing I can see against it at the moment is if you have a C63 variant, the larger paddle shifters obstruct a clear view path to the stalk so you may have to move your line of sight to set/adjust it, I could be in this situation as I'm looking at installing a C63 steering wheel I have onto my C250-CDI.

On the subject of paddle shifters, did anyone else also notice from the pics of the above link, the standard smaller paddle shifters are now finished in silver as opposed to black making them much more visible and also nicer to look at similar to those of the C63

I do remember being told by a spokes person at my AMG open day that Mercedes have always had the cruise control like that as well as the handbrake/footbrake arrangement and will never change it ?? but they've changed the arrangement of the gear lever in other models, so maybe those other 2 items will also change in time

As for the black/silver media colours that seems to be the display colours, at the moment it's black/gold or beige colour, just from looking at those pics again, IMHO I prefer the way it is now, ie. black/gold

Also the grill fins have black colour added in place of silver grey, again I prefer the way it is at the moment, but some may prefer that area blacked out, I've seen a few people black out that area.

Overall these added options do make for more choice to people ordering one now, the more choice the better

Thank goodness for that MB wouldn't want to replace diamond white, it's an absolutely drop dead gorgeous colour for this car and also many other models in the MB range

I find it too yellow. I like pure white. I thought that they would get rid of diamond white since it increased in price to 1600 even in Canada. Very few people will pay extra 1600 just for that colour. Oh well.

Oh yeah, you reminded me of something. The what's new guide mentioned something about silver shift paddles, but in brackets it said that it was only for C350 RWD. Strange.

Well, after 1 min of driving the car I found the cruise control and turn stalks confusing. Its been some time, but I think that I kept reaching for the cruise control instead of the turn signal. My hand naturally move to where I expected the turn signal to be and it felt awkward. First time ever on a test drive, so I am sure that I am not the only one who complained. Must have been enough of an interest to cause MB to change it.

Where is this black colour on the fins that you are seeing?

One dumb thing is that if you get the sports package or artico leather, there seems to be no way to get passenger power steering which is my #1 peeve with the car. I will gladly pay a 1000$ more not to dick around with moving the seat like in a honda civic. A car in this price range should have power forward, back for letting in passengers.
