was in for 60k service today...

... and car came out AWESOME

it shifts super fast now.. hella responsive and sounds much better.

main things i got done was:

drain entire AT fluid and replace it with new fluid
7 quarts of new mobile 1 synthetic
replaced shifter bushings (with an older 300E shifter cuz its stiffer)
rotated tires
lubed up engine
replaced windshield wiper rubber insert
replaced spark plugs
stiffened up rear shocks
flushed brake fluid and replaced with new fluid
added new coolant etc

I love it when I do an oil and/or AT fluid change. It maybe pyschological but if just feels faster somehow! Maybe cause your wallet is lighter, that's why! J/K

yeah i just got my car serviced for the 105k mi a couple weeks ago. my shifts became a lot quicker. i noticed that after i installed the k&n, downshifting would take like half a second longer for the gear to engage for some reason.

You used MB trans fluid, right? Where did you get all this work for $350? Because that trans fluid costs BANK. Like $100 just for that!

yep they used the mb trans fluid... saw them put it in

i watched them work for 2 hrs right next to my car... didnt get to see how they tightened up the rear suspension but i asked them to check for stuff in the rear cuz of the clunking noises i'd get over bumps at 60-70.

my mechanic said you should change the trans oil every 15k.

oil every 3-4k regardless if you use synthetic or not.

That's crazy, $350! I walked out of 60K service three weeks ago almost $700 lighter! Damn! I want your mechanic! They did everything to it including rear/front suspension, sparks, wires, tranny work, air filter, oil change, etc., etc. I got it out and it drove just the way it did when I took it in. But I have no cpmplaints cause the car was fine when I took it in and fine when I got it out.

Why don't you try to find a good independent Mercedes mechanic? They are much cheaper and give you a better deal on parts. Just make sure they use OEM parts.

he actually recommended it to me to use the older 190e shifter bushing cuz the one that they use in the w202s is a softer green one which melts/wears away faster. the older one is harder and it feels much more solid now when im shifting up/down

Yep, I went to the dealer. It's shame, but where I live it's my only choice for quality service and OEM Mercedes parts. No one else out here has a clue as to how to handle a German car,

So, we ARE supposed to change the transmission fluid? What about the filter (if it has one)? I thought these transmissions weren't supposed to be opened. Are you sure?

Mercedes recommends that you DO NOT change it. Everyone else recommends that you change it around 30K miles (well some people recommend more often so they can make more money off you). But that fluid is really expensive! LIke $9 a litre. I guess not much more than gas in Europe.

mercedes says that sealed fluid is meant to last forever and says u dont change it, but thats bs >_<

if you keep reusing cooking oil over and over for years+, what does the oil look like? is it healthy as fresh oil?

its sealed only cuz theres a special tool to open it, you can buy the tool for like 15 bucks and do the whole thing your self if you know what yer doing. theres even a special dipstick that mercedes has to check the ATF fluid.

I guarantee you your new fluid is now brown/black. Does that mean you should change it now? No.

This is a trick used by mechanics for years. Also showing the air filters and how DIRTY they are. Hahaha.
