Dash Kit For Aftermarket Radio?

Does anyone know where I can get a dash kit to install my Sony Cd Deck in my 1995 C 280?

You shouldn't need one. Just need the VW wire harness and the antenna adaptor. VW10.

Hi Lo converter so my aftermarket deck doesn't blow up my Bose and also so I don't have an annoying hissing sound.

Haven't you been asking about this stuff for like 2 years now? Glad to see you've made a move.

If you wire up the harness properly you won't have any problems. If you add in any adapters, you mostly will only add noise to the system. Trust

Actually, the 1995-1997 Bose can be helped by the addition of line level converters. It depends on the head unit installed.

Of course, some people don't use them... and in their cars, I hear an awful hissing. When I point this out, a few of them even say "What hissing?" So it depends on what "sound quality" means to you. I suspect many people will never notice.

Actually I was really wondering! You've been around for a while... don't you remember these questions over and over again? It's one thing when the same question comes up repeatedly, but it begins to be humorous when the same person asks the same question many times over a long period of time.

But I'm really glad that he's on the verge of having a new stereo installed!

I don't mind the flaming since I know this topic has been beat to death! I just realized that I can't really sell it (the deck) for much so I decided to give it a shot. If I don't like it, I can take all the stuff back, no harm no foul. Can you give me some pointers on wiring this thing, schorchie? I have a wiring diagram from a guy over at club202.com and just need to know the color matchups, etc. Hell, a link to a thread will do. I did a THOROUGH search on this and couldn't find anything specific about how to wire it. The way I'm looking at it, all the wires dedicated to the speakers go into and out of the Hi Lo and the power/accessories wire directly to the aftermarket end of the harness. Am I correct to assume that you can just match the colors and go? Let me know. Sorry about all the posts on this. Just at least know you're all helping me to be a happier person!

Sometimes colors vary slightly from year to year.

Use this pinout, your VW adapter, you're done.

You would hear a hissing if the output from the new radio is too weak.

If it's too strong then you won't have to turn the volume up high to get the same effect.

Consider this... the input of the Bose amplifier is fixed... e.g. it is not adjustable like many aftermarket amplifiers.

Therefore, regardless of the output of the headunit, if the noise level of the head unit is too high (often apparent on head units with 4V+ outputs), then the amplifier will amplify the noise. So even when you turn the volume down all the way, the background hissing noise will be bothersome.

I'm not sure if you've actually tried this, but we've had lots and lots of radios (and COMANDs) in lots and lots of cars with and without Bose. 1995-1997 W202/W210 are the ones that have the hissing problem, and almost always, the only thing that solves it is a line output converter.
