Is this guy on crack, I was in Europe for the last 12 days so I must have missed this whole thread. The best interior in any car under 40,000???? That 'aluminum' in that car looks so fake I thought it was plastic (or is it plastic?). Plus the magic three letters that he can do nothing to get on his RSX. R W D I'll take my 6-speed, good looking, incredibly solid C230 any day. And whoever said the C-Coupe is a step down for Mercedes is an idiot. You know in Europe they sell minivans (V-Class) and tiny hatchback-looking sedans (A-Class), not to mention the Smart cars. The 230K is definately a step UP from those cars.

Guys, don't worry I'll write a more detailed response this weekend. Right now I can't because I'm taking summer courses and I have a Calculus exam tomorrow. So I'm trying to study all day. My teacher can hardly speak English so I basically have to learn all the stuff on my own. I don't see myself as a troll by the way because I have a genuine interest in some of the cars represented in this forum. And believe it or not, I actually like the C230 Coupe. I just think that the RSX-S is better, that's all. By the way, one advantage you guys forgot to mention is that the only way to get an automatic transmission in an RSX is to get the base model (with 40 less HP then the type S), so if you're going to get an auto then the C230 Coupe has in advantage where performance is concerned.

ummmm, did he just use "automatic" and "performance" in the same sentance...?

He is a teenager, of course he is going to like this type of car, when I was his age I thought the XR3i and 2i and GTis were the coolest cars in the world.

He is too young to appreciate cars for what they are. He doesn't know the first thing about cars and just goes with what appears cool to his demographic.

The real question should be; why do we car what he likes?

Next up, lets argue about which gameboy game he prefers?

Pokemon rules man.

My car's arriving this weekend.. and i've considered the celica and the RSx type s... price wise.. not too much of a difference... but we are lookin at CLASS.... and back seat room as well... rsx tight... celica.. tighter.... price wise when i finalized was 10,000 more... but well worth the money...

Same here, I considered C230, Celica GTS, and RSX when I was about to purchase my car.

My opinion:

RSX = many aftermarket mods available
Celica = really cool looking exterior
C230 = classy and sporty

I chose the C230 in the end.

well if i were still taking freshman calculus at college i probably will think the RSX is better. Son, finish your college first and get a well paid job and then buy your own car with your hard earned money by that time you might think the C230 is a better car. People will change. RSX-S might beat the Benz in a drag strip but who cares, if i were going for performance i'd get myself a WRX or even the Rustang V8.
I also own a MR2 Turbo, lightweight mid-engine rear wheel drive two seater to satisfy my uncivilized need for speed and the riceboy spirit in me. Maybe the upcoming RX-8 or EVO VII will impress me. RSX-S front wheel drive glorified civic with 200hp and no torque? nah.. not my cup of tea

he's in college... dude, any kid on campus has 4 goals in life (in no particular order):

1. get laid
2. drink
3. not flunk out
4. get laid again

the RSX really does little to further those objectives, yes it is a nice car, but the MB will get him a LOT more *****.

I would have thought he's in HS, (I took calc as a junior?)... in which case the RSX makes more sense. he has TONS of free time and uses it to drive around with his buddies and in those adolescent "mine is bigger" circles, acceleration is king.

I still don't see the curb-appeal of the RSX, damn. the C230 is sooooooo smooth, classy, sexy, understated-yet-powerful, attention commanding (not grabbing), and curiosity inspiring... hell, I'm surprised young women don't orgasm just by looking at it.

as far as competing cars, I also looked at the celica, RSX, C230, 325Ci...... (ad nauseum). There is a Z3 in my garage now, so it really all becomes moot once you start driving the cars.

Umm, you'd be correct if I was so stupid as to stick my head in the sand and/or if MBWorld.org was the ONLY source for information about cars on the internet, but I don't and it isn't. I come HERE to talk shop with other MB owners. I don't come here to read trash-talk from non-MB owners. Should this site just be re-named to "carcomparison.org"?

Good job Timmy. I'm glad to see you've broken some people's stereotype of a teenager. Believe it or not folks, there ARE responsible, upstanding teenagers out there.

i am going to be 17 in about a week and i dont regret my choice eaither. i was never intrested in rice boy cars like the RSX. When i went to school i parked right next to a blue RSX- S all the time, no one looked at that thing when i was next to it. and everyone always complemented my car. but then u get some idiots with stuipid slow accords with big *** wings saying that that rsx can beat u. of course if i raced it i would loose if he knew how to drive it. but who cares.

Go look at the pics....
I mean HELLO go to carsdirect.com (if you haven't been in one of these things) and tell me how you could even spend 15k on one???? the rsx feels like every other jap car out there, tons of plastic with no style or CLASS!! Mercedes is in no way a perfect car, with many flaws... but it's the best ride i've ever driven other than my dad's porsche, the only car i feel blows MB away. Also my best friend has an acura CL type s... it is a nice car and fun to drive... but once again the fake wood, plastic EVERYWHERE and boring feel are not worth it for me, not to mention he's in the shop every month. The ONLY advantage with acura i feel is the seats.... far more relaxing than mine... but oh well
My 2 cents

I am 17...
College
Drive an AUTOMATIC (only thing I dont liek about it, buts still fun sicne I have the "Speedshift" to play with, and its not a lot slower than the 6-speed) c230 coupe, and I would not change it for any other car in its pricerange, except for a 6-speed coupe, or a c32... =]

Actually a few of my friends drive Celicas and RSXs-s and they seem to love my car.

Also I dont get why an automatic c230 can keep up with cars that are supposed to be faster (RSX, Celica,Prelude)...

ok ok so your rsx is faster then c230
ok ok so the rsx type s is faster then the c230... but guess what, there is bigger brother of the 230 thats the 320... I got a 320, I raced a kid with a brand spanking new type s, only two mods on his car, exhaust (Greddys) and its lowered... My car is stock c320 sport, at that time I had 18 inch brabus on the car... Started up off the line, neck to neck, in 2nd I started pulling ahead, got about two car lengths up on him going up to 80 and then braked hard, My car outbraked his car too... BUT WAIT... theres more... If you really wanna talk daddy of the c class try racing a rsx type s with all the mods you want against a c32 AMG...

I hope you got the leather seats.

As far as the mini-debate now going on, yes, you can have good numbers with an auto-equipped car, but a manny would always be more sporty, which is why BMW and MB will always have different driver profiles, unless MB gets with the program and offers a real manny on their "sports" versions of their cars.
