Removing airbag stickers from visors.
I want to remove the airbag safety stickers from the sun-visors. I peeled the one from the passengers side, but it left behind a lot of the text and colored ink.
Has anyone got firsthand experience with getting rid of the residual ink?
I have an arsenal of chemicals to attack with. Including: WD40, acetone, baby oil, and my alltime favorite, laquer thinner!
Thanks for any help.

I would try it with the WD-40 first. If that doesn't work, try the thinner on a small area to see if it damges the plastic.
Question: Does removing the stickers make the car "un-starmark-able"?

That's weird. Last week on a warm DC day (80+F) while waiting for my wife I started pealing the airbag stickers off the visors.
I tried the ones on the mirror flaps first in case I messed them up. They came right off. There was some adhesive left behind but by sticking the stickers back and removing them several times I got all the stuff off.
My stickers were fairly thick. There wasn't any ink left on the visors. It looks much better without any stickers.
I also removed the Benz sticker from the windshield. There was some speculation else where in this forum about how it might lower the re-sale value but I find that hard to believe as you can just get a new sticker and put it on!
BTW - I picked up my car on July 16, 2001 so they may have changed the warning labels.

I've seen another product for sale which is supposed to be specifically for removing gooey stickers and what not. It's called something like "goo-be-gone" and should be a much more mild solvent that shouldn't harm plastic. My guess is that they have it at Wal-mart or the equivalent.
Hmm...wouldn't think so.

Goo-gone
Yep, that's it - I did both stickers on the passenger visor and the one you see with the visor not in use on the driver's side (I left the one on the reverse). It was harder to get the sticky goo off the vanity mirror cover for some reason.
I used Goo-gone and fingernails...it was messy getting it off but after about 40 minutes' work total, it was done. Small traces of the adhesive may be left on the visor if you just use the main sticker to get it off, so Goo-gone is the way to go. After using that, I washed the visors with water and hand soap and then gave them a dose of Armor All. They look great now, just like they do in Europe from the factory.
