"Official" 0-60 and related info- Are they accurate? (m)

The 230SS(the car in that post) is quoted at 7.5 seconds to 60, IIRC on the Benz page. Most tests put it at 8.0 or higher.
The original C230 Coupe was listed at 7.2 on the MB site. Tested times were 7.1 to 7.6.
The C350, OTOH, seems woefully conservative. The new SLK350 has the same tranny, engine, and wieghs about the same, and does 60 in 5.4. The C350 is supposedly 6.4. I'd expect high fives.

Yeah, hate to rain on your parade, but I'm with Ct, was the 330 really trying to race? Youre car is heavier, and at a disadvantage in HP to the 330, so you see where this is going, right?
Its not a slow car, but its not a rocket either. I like the C230SS 1.8 a lot. It gets great mileage, and is quite spunky around town or on the highway. It does however, make noticeably less bottom end torque, something that makes the 2.3 really grunt out of the hole.
i reached 125MPH sunday night, car felt like it was on rails. I've discovered the engine redlines at 100MPH in 4th gear, and keeps going after that!! Continues pulling hard after 100 too.
i did 135 in the 323i once, that car is a little twitchy at high speeds in comparison but could be cause of the many miles.

BMW's are not as stable at speed. The faster steering and tighter suspension make them more nimble at low speed, but pay the price up top.
on a 330 maybe but not on my 323i rofl. that thing as so much body roll compared to the c230.

my 330 would crush my C230 in turns and corners. there's this one spot by me when coming off the LIE onto the seaford oyster bay expressway that's a nice long, tight curve. i'd take it at about 85 mph in the 330 but had to back off at about 70-75 in the C230 b/c it felt like it was gonna break loose. as for the 330 at high speeds, i've hit the governed top speed several times and it was as tight as a virgin and very solid and stable. one thing i notice more in the C230 that i never had a problem with in the 330 is that on very windy days, the C230 gets pushed easily side to side on the highway where i never had that problem w/ the bmw. but i'm loving my C class, it's a great cruiser
