Cone shaped dash vent screen removal

Does anyone know how to remove the cone shaped vent screen that sits on top of the dash? I need to remove it to clean or replace it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

that is correct MJ50.
I watched Steve do it, in order to install my front PTS display with new cone-shaped vent with dial. There are tabs in that vent, that could only be popped up from underneath, so I don't there's a way to pop it off from the top of the dash itself.
Definitely need to get the front vents out first, and then work from underneath to get it off.

Nope. it is NOT functional on most of the US spec 203s...it is functional on all ROW cars and the first couple of US spec 203s...

I asked my salesman what was under that grill... and he said it was a speaker if you had the bose system. Is this true?

I do know that some of the W203's it has to with the heating/cooling system also.

functional on my saudi 2005 ...

it's an A/C vent . Mercedes doesn't want you to get sick if you just hopped out of the shower... so you just let the air circulate rather than hitting you str8 in the face : )

... one of the only car manufacturers that care about getting you sick ...and not just how fast you get to the hospital after you're sick ...

prevention > protection

sorry for the OT :p

Someone posted years ago that you can remove the center top vent by using a credit card to pry from the top. Haven't tried it myself.

You'll fold/break your card, I did. had to use a strong plastic wedge, managed to get it off.

That's another thing I don'T understand about MB.. why did they remove the functionality. it's great, I love it. apparently too many people complained about the window fogging up for the first few seconds (until the AC compressor worked it's magic).

nice way to fix the "problem", remove it.

lol
