Visions, the phone number is (714) 630-0744 and they are at 1024 N. Tustin Ave and the 91 Fwy. They know all the problems with MBs and the molesking issue as they do all of Caliber MB's work.

Yes I did! Good job Ben! The only problem I have with the tint is that when I drop it off for service, they are not as careful as me with the seatbelts and have scratched the tint with the buckle. I didn't want to get into an argument with them so I let it go but be careful with your seatbelt buckles, specially on the coupe that has then way too far back.

Same goes for most cars. I've actually been waiting to get my tint fixed from prior problems before the moleskin install.

Thanks for the pointer. How much did they charge?

They charged me $160 for the tint and $25/door for the moleskin for a total of $210. I've think they may have raised their prices since, don't know. I could have gone across the street from my house and had it tinted for $135 including a 2002 VW Beatle loaner but they didn't want to remove the door panels or the plastic panels around the rear window/hatch for a perfect fit. So if you chose someone else make sure you are getting the full treatment.

Thanks again, just wanted to get an idea of what to expect. I'd rather spend extra and have it perfect, myself.

Now, to find a good audio shop!

The shop I mentioned does audio work too. They did a lot of the installs on my car.

How dark should I tint?

I know many of you guys have your windows tinted and I know about all the issues with the scratching, so I just want to know your opinions on darkness.

I have a white coupe with charcoal interior and I don't want it to be too dark. I was thinking about doing 35% all around. I don't know if that will be too dark with the charcoal interior.

If anyone has pics of their car, especially white or silver, with tint, please post and let me know what percentage yours is. I have seen some pics of your cars, but only a few.

Thanks.

white car = no tint.

i have a white c240 and had a light blue tint , was okay but does not look better than no tint.

no tint on a white car looks cleaner.

I think I've heard you say that before, and I disagree. I once saw a white/java C320 wagon with tinted windows and it looked really good. I don't think I would like the blue tint though. I like the way my car looks at night because it kinda looks tinted, but I don't want it to be completely blacked out.

Timmy, I saw your pic when I did a search. Do you have any side shots or with less glare? Thanks guys.

I have a black car with the oyster with the 20% tint and it looks great, but it's hard to see at night. If I was doing it again I would do 35% tint and I think because of your dark interior and white outside the 35% will have the look that my 20% gives me on my color combo so it will look good. This time of year I really appreciate the dark tint as I can leave packages, laptops, cameras in the car and it's almost impossible to see inside while it's in a parking structure.

i would definitly tint your car especially if its white, i like white and dark tint.

Here is a pic of both my cars. My C230 Has 18% tint all around and its very dark u really cant see in at all. Only at night i will admit its kinda hard to see out of.

I had the dealer tint my CLK430 And i actually never knew % it was, Its not even close to as dark as my C230 is, but the CLK also has the Blue tint that comes on the AMG and sport models.

oh wait since u have a white car and i am in a picture posting mood, here is a picture of my last car. It had 18% on all the windows and i thought it looked great, much better than without tint. Without tint it was to clear looking and kinda looked like a fish tank.

Thanks guys. I think I will do the 35% all around.

So I know about the moleskin, and Buell, I think I read in an old post of yours about sensors in the corners of the rear hatch. And I guess you can't do anything about the plastic window in back, which is fine.

Anything else to worry about??

Matt230K,

Before you tint your car's windows you should verify with the local authorities what amount of window tint that is legal in your area. How much window tint is allowed for the front windshield, side windows and rear windshield.

I think 35% is legal in Ohio, but I will ask the tint shop before I do it. They should know.

Here's a pic of mine with 35% front and 20% backs, 20% rear hatch. This is the max allowed legal in state of TX. The shop I went to does tint for a local MB dealer. I dont think they did any kinda moleskin or anything and no scratches either (over a month now).
