Factory tints are notoriously very light except for the privacy tints on the rear windows of SUVs, etc. HTH

The blue tint is a defect. Take the car back to the dealer and demand that they replace all of your blue windows with new windows.

Blue Tint

I believe that the blue tint does have a small amount of UV coating to them. It seems to cut down (a little bit) on the heat from the sun.

If memory serves me correctly, the heat you feel is in the infrared region as oppose to the ultraviolet region. Of course, I am always wrong and I am hung over

No it's not a defect... if you look at some of our cars, then they all must be defective.

Its a tint.

MB "Avantgarde" models, aka "sport" come with blue tinted windows.
MB "Classic" and "Elegance" models, aka "luxury" come with green tinted windows.

That is correct. C-Class sport sedans come with blue tinted windows. And it's in the glass compound...not a film!

Personally, I hated that blue tint from the day I drove my car home. It has NO UV-reducing or heat-reflecting capabilities whatsoever, and because it's dark, it simply transfers heat into the car. You broil sitting next to those windows on the sunny side.

My wife's BMW service rep recommended the tint shop they use. I had them install 35% Madico "Charcool" film all around (except windshield, of course). Problem solved, and looks fabulous on a black sedan. Now when I leave work and my car's been in the sun all day, the auto AC fan is on Low within 10 minutes, with the AC set at 72. That's a real measure of good tint!!

Here you go. Just snapped 'em for ya'.

This particular tint is 99% UV rejection (as any good window film is), and 48% solar (heat) rejection.

Where do you have those installed? I'm living in Madison, WI, which is about 3.5 hours from Chicago.

Kev, I think you should be able to find a tinter in Madison.

My windows were tinted by Riggs Brothers in Naperville. Great shop. Their specialty is anything having to do with car interiors, from headliners to seats to custom upholstery and carpeting, electrical, etc. Immaculate shop. Took them 3 hours to do the job. (They tint only on Wednesdays.)

After living in Madison for 6 years (I grew up in Hong Kong and came the States in 1998), I came to the conclusion that if there's anything I need, it's usually not in Madison, at least not a decent one. Anyways, I will be down in Chicago for graduate school and medical school interviews later this year, plus I will be going to Lee's in downtown Chicago for my Brabus VI'es, so I might arrange a trip to visit the tint shop as well.

Cool. If you're downtown, it's a 40 minute ride to the tint shop.

Thank you, tonewheel.

I should be staying in the downtown area because I'll be visiting Northwestern Memorial

Idiot noobies...
The blueish color is not a tint, it is from a chemical compound in the glass itself and not some ghetto cosmetic color tint/coating. It offers greater UV protection on its own.

Great Pics Tone Wheel

My car is identical to yours. Where is your roof top antenna? (I don't have Command or Teleaid, just the antenna).

The blue tint offers "zippo" UV protection and zero heat (solar) rejection. All it does is make the interior of the car broil.

Tint shop in Bay Area

Does anyone have a tint shop they can recommend in the Bay Area? Also, if anyone has dark tint and would like to share their experience (if any) with the cops that would be great as well. I'm thinking about getting my windows tinted and any help would be greatly appreciate, thanks!
