i say stick with the OEM tint .
the really light blue one that should come stock in most mercedes .
those look nice and luxurious..
i have a citron green coupe . and no other color or tint would look better than stock .

the blue oem tint is probably at 50% or more because you can only see it at certain angles and bright light. that wasn't enough for me either. it may look cool with a blue tint, but it does not provide the cooling power and privacy of a darker tint film.

the reason i was charged $165 (tax included) for the Llumar film (7 windows) with lifetime warranty was because that was a dealer price. i was referred to that particular tint shop by a friend at the local dealership that sents all their cars there. if it wasn't for that, the normal price for the public was $195 + tax. however, if you went through the dealer to have it tinted, it would've costed around $295.00. not too many local tint shops carry Llumar because it is an expensive film.

Well that has always been the "chicken or the egg" scenario to me. At what point is a "bad" tint job the fault of the tint or the installer.

It's a tint defect when it fades, changes color, cracks, or demetalized. It's the installer's fault when the tint peels, bubbles, cut unevenly, dust/dirt/lint in between glass and film, etc.... A lifetime warranty covers the tint defects while a reputable installer/shop reduces the installer's fault.

Yeah this I know which is why I'm lil ticked. All the shops in my area, which isn't very many didn't know &/or don't use the moleskin. They all had the same the basic response, "it's scratch resistant, so if it does, come back we'll replace". Well that does me no good if no moleskin is applied and I have to run back & forth getting it redone all the time. I think I'm gonna order some today, take it to them, and say put this on with a new piece of filim.

yep, all tints have some scratch resistance but when it does scratch, it's the installer's fault.....for not installing moleskin.

You only have to remove your door panel enough to get the plastic blade out.

It's easy and the instructions have pictures to show you step by step.

Keep your window tint from scratching!

honestly, if you posted pics or your instructions, it would be really helpful and I'm sure more people would be inclined to buy the product...

Actually what they do is go to this Legendary Volcanoe called Smurf and get the LAVA from there so that they can mold these windows. ... Some people say the Lava glows blue!

Question About C230KWZ 'Blue Tint'

So I'm after collecting all my info [with major thanks to all of you on MBWorld.org], I've decided to upgrade from my rice rocket '94 Honda Accord Sedan [body kit, exhaust, etc.] to an '01-'04 MB C230K SS.

So yesterday, I went test drivin, and aside from bein totally impressed, lol, the one that I did happen to drive, had the blue tint on the windows. No I've seen this on quiet a few diff series of MB cars, however, never paid attention to what particular class it was on [series, edition, etc.]

The [old] guy at the dealership said that the blue tint came on ALL C230K or ALL Kompressor models [I dont remember exactly what was said. Tried to block out most of the salesmen jargon as best I could]

My question is... Is the Blue Tint REALLY standard on ALL C230K / Kompressor Models?

Not that it totally matters, as I'm dead set in my way about getting this car. Its freakin gorgeous and I TOTALLY see myself in it, as well as takin the time to mod it with much detail.

I know its a little pre-emptive of me to 'list' my mods out already. But its what I've seen on this forum site, as well as whats available.

thanks for the info. test drove it yesterday and played stupid with the salesman ["whats the 0-60 on this?"] lol. burried it in each gear gettin on the freeway, then ducked it in banked turns. damn near made his life flash, with a prequel & sequel, before his eyes.

after that, i was sold. can't wait!

I'd hardly call it luxurious. I call it practical. It's got everything you need, nothing you don't. Actually, I don't need the sunroof.

Yes, the C230K SS has blue tint on the windows. Normally, on most Mercedes cars, there's actually a green tint. Most people don't notice this at all.

Good luck, you certainly have given yourself a lot of time to buy a car (you mention a month or two. If you're going to take such a generous amount of time, buy in the winter time, it's usually cheaper.
