2008 new key for your w203?

for the 2nd time this month my car went in for warranty (window motor broke).

anyways on to the good news!...how many of you have any type of damage to your current key? well my "unlock" button has a crack in it and since i was at the dealership today, i decided to ask if i could get a replacement. my service adviser mentioned that it wouldn't be a problem and that it will get replaced for free. to take advantage of the moment i asked if it was possible to upgrade to the new c300/c350 key. well long story short, i will be getting the new key free of charge. apparently all the keys now are made that way so it's standard now. she mentioned that it will take 3-5 business days so i will post up some pictures as soon as i get it.

i just remembered a previous post about people paying $100-300 for these keys. but why pay for it when you can get it for free through warranty!

btw this was from the Rusnak dealership in Arcadia, CA.

hope it works for everyone else too

They're the same.

Back in the day you could get them for less than $65 shipped to your door.

But yea i may need to try this with my older key.

Wow, free is better than having to pay any amount of money. I think I'm gonna mention that before my warranty is up and get me a 2nd one! One of my black keys has a crack on the button.

Thanks for the heads up!

I went to order one last week due to my key having the same issues and I took the part numbers with me for the new key--they said it was going to be the old style and that I would have to "take my chances" if i ordered the new one ----I wonder if the coupes due to one less button still get the old crappy one--I wneed to confirm this before ordering another one

Mine was cracked too...then i dropped it down a storm grate in DC

Sidenote: I was vexed to hear that BMW gave my buddy 3 keys on his 2007 5 series. I'm not sure if he got a valet key too. How come MB only supplies 2?

The coupe can use the same key and if you get the 3 button model it will pop your hatch. I had two 3 button keys on my coupe. The internals are the same on both and the standard coupe housing just didn't have the 3rd button.

No, I've got the new one, WITH the hatch button. Pretty cool. It was $65 - I was the first at my dealership; they're now over $200, since the dealership caught on. Like yours, they didn't believe me, and told me that it'd be nonrefundable. But everything worked out now fine. Of course, now the car's there getting a new alternator - so I guess they have the last laugh.

What does this key look like? Pic anyone?
Is it the one with the chrome around the outside?

Lol Mercury, I test drove the 204 at the Stealer about 2 days ago, I like the grille, and that's all I like. It feels... whats the word... slugish.
