New Key Style for my C Class
Another cool feature the 07s have is the "beep" when you lock and unlock your vehicle, I believe it's called the Netherland setting, which I read in previous posts.
Any thoughts on these 2 items being done easier at the dealerships now that they're standard on the 07s?
All 2007 MY (model year) Mercedes Models appear to have this key now. Previously as posted in this thread this key came with cars equipped with Keyless Go. We've just tried to get hold of this key in the UK and aren't able to yet.
We're being told that the key will be possible for us in the UK but only when the old key is superceded. This part no has not superceded the old black plastic key in the UK yet. Apparantly there are still over 3000 old style keys at Daimler Chrysler UK!
Our parts specialists think it will be possible to get this key and for it to work. However, until these old keys are used up, if you have an old style key in the UK and go for a replacement (even with the newer part no) you will get an old key.
We showed some of our dealers this thread, but they have confirmed until the 3000 old keys are used up it's unlikely we're going to get our hands on these new keys
The only roadblock before was that the part ordering system told the operater that this key was not for this car, and somehow we needed to convince the operator that it would work.
From here out, it should be clear sailing.

for those who get all these weird stories about programming keys and the number of keys the car can work with:
- the car is able to fully support THREE keys (keeping all the memorised settings per key)
- the car is willing to take an additional FIVE keys (which makes a total of EIGHT)
- in the mercedes key programming tool there is room for FOUR replacements per key
- any key that has been programmed for your car before and is not in your possesion can be blocked by the dealer (using a programmer key that gets inserted in the ignition lock)
- dealerships in europe can programm the keys themselves

pre 07 models to chirp/beep when the alarm is activated or deactivated like the current 07 models do. Don't know if it sounds or if it's the same as activating Netherland settings. Can anyone cofirm? Maybe Steve will know?

Hopefully Steve can shed some light on this for us all.
If it's possible, I just might activate it on my '02 coupe.
