I've got 2 people who I'm negotiating with. Wanted to have it much sooner, but it's taking longer than i anticipated. Frustrating.
There will still be fitment issues, but I'm confident i can work around them. I've gotten pretty comfortable taking my current air box in & out and identifying all the hooking points. Might have to get creative with the V8 AMG air box to make it all fit properly.
Still not too convinced if shaving the baffles out will do anything.
Probably not worth it for the hassle.
Only thing i did was swap out the K&N filters with GREEN filters. Car seems to sound a bit smoother, but response is about the same. Can't really tell. Too subtle. Put the K&N's on my wife's C320, and she can't tell any difference at all from stock. Which is what i expected.
a lot of people really BS when they say the can feel 1-3 HP gains. If anything you're lucky to get .3-.5 gain, but how the heck do you measure that ???
anyway, gotta get stuff uploaded....
talk to ya soon !

thanks Frank for the 2 links.... (E320 and C55)
i just did this procedure yesterday on a C320 Sport Coupé and C320 Sport Sedan,
and it's very similar to the pictures found on those links, but just to keep it simple & personal for the C320 V6 3.2L Coupé bubba, here goes:
Step 1:
Pop hood,
and then raise to service position -
Step 2:
locate air box
aaahh, there it is:
Step 3:
Remove the front plastic cover (the one with the MB Star on it)
It is held in place at 5 points.
2 on the sides pictured here:
and 2 slide notches on each side of the "Mercedes Benz" air box
Kinda hard to see, but you'll see 'em on your car.
and lastly one clip at the bottom center:
ok, so you've got the front plastic cover removed:
to be continued..............

Step 4:
Remove the air box.
Start by locating the rubber grommets on the engine that hold the air box clips in place:
and locating the 2 air intake hoses:
Disconnect the intake hoses:
Straddling the air box, use both arms to pull the air box straight up gripping the sides:
The air box is held in place by 4 metal clips that slip onto 4 rubber grommets on the engine block.
Just pull up firmly.
This is what those rubber grommets look like up close:
Here are the 4 points where the air box is attached:
and just because we can, here's a look at the central air intake past the filter box.
You might want to cover that so that nothing gets in there while you're working on your air box.
ok, so you've got the air box off:

Step 5:
Replacing filters
First off, flip your Air Box upside down.
You will need a T-25 TORX screwdriver.
There are 4 Torx screws per side on the air box, that allows you access to the Air Filter compartments.
Unscrew all 4, they will not come all the way off. They just come up enough so that you can pull the air filter compartment off.
Be prepared for some dirt, bugs, and dust to fall out:
Here's the air filter compartment removed, with stock air filter inside:
It's up to you what you're going to use if replacing your stock MB air filters.
The current rage is GREEN Filters or K&N Filters.
GREEN Filters Part # is 2247 (you need a pair) for the C320 V6 3.2L
and best places to get 'em is either EuroTeck MotorSports or evosport.
With GREEN Filters, you can also order the Cleaning/Recharge Kit #2000.
If you go with K&N
The K&N Part # is 33-2181 (you need a pair) for the C320 V6 3.2L
and these are available from a variety of sources online.
K&N also has a Recharger/Service Kit # 99-5000.
I don't recommend one over the other, I've used both, and they are both good products. Currently I'm using GREEN in my Sport Coupe, and K&N on my Sport Sedan. ok, back to the steps....
Here's how the air filter compartment looks with the GREEN filter installed:
Now repeat the procedure for the other side:

Step 6:
Putting everything back together....
So, filters are in and now you have to screw the air filter compartments back onto the air box.
And now replace the air box, aligining it to the 4 mounting points mentioned above:
NOTE: If you covered the central air intake, make sure you uncover it before you put the air box back on !!
With the air box back in place, re-attach the 2 air intake hoses:
Push down on the 4 spots where the air box sits on the engine to ensure that is securely seated.
Next, replace the front plastic cover, sliding it in from front to rear.
Here's a better pic of the 2 slide latches on either side of the air box nose:
and here's a picture with the front plastic cover upside down, just to show where the metal clips slide into and align to the corresponding latches:
so just slide it in, and make sure all the latches catch, and seat properly
and that's pretty much it.... you're done !

wow so detailed carlos!
but anyways, theres always a fuss abt K&N or GREEN...I doubt theres a diff. The K&Ns I have, 0-15 its slower than the stock paper folds, but after that, theres a slight increase in pickup and sound...but I still perfer GREEN

BTW, you do not need to remove the front cover at all (the one with the MB Star). The tabs attaching it to the main assembly are very fragile and subject to breakage (I broke mine and had to replace the whole cover). Instead just pull up on the rear assembly and the whole thing comes loose as one piece.

I just like taking things apart (carefully, as to not break them ) to see what's underneath, and how these things are put together.
Something about guys and cars and engines and taking things apart !
anyway, eventually someone was bound to ask !
