Here's an image of the mostly-polished caliper and the as-yet unpolished rotor hub, prior to painting.

Absolutely impressive. Looks great. The best shot is missing though. How does it look with the wheel on?! Do you have pics of what you used to make the metal shine like that?

Stupid question time. What is with putting the wingless name on the pics? Just out of curiousity. Is this some type of copyright thing? If it were, don't you need the C?

The bare polished look needs protection, like paint or plating. This was a quick cosmetic upgrade. Just look at the before and after.

Plating would require disassembly, LOTS more polishing and an outside operation. A better investment would be new calipers.

The finished shot is coming.

This tool is used with these discs. The ceramic aluminum oxide is great for starting, followed by the aluminum oxide to finish. I have lots of other implements, too.

Yes, these are my pictures, so I sign 'em.

Here's a spliced image, showing the progression. Also, a side view.

That looks great. What kind of paint did you use on the rotor?? Does it prevent rusting? What about dealing w/ the rust on the rest of the rotor (i dunno what its called, but where the pads meet the rotor when braking)?

The rotor is painted in Rust-oleum Professional spray enamel, in Aluminum color. While intact, the paint will provide rust protection. It also looks great against the inside surface of the wheel.

The swept surface is abraded clean daily, using an MB product, the brake pads. Ceramic rotors are the only solution to eliminate rust.

The first image shows the left rotor edge has already been polished. The right rotor edge will also be polished.

What is the correct EBC Redstuff pad for 2005 C230 SS?

I'm trying to order some EBC Redstuff brake pads, and two part numbers are coming up:

DP31365C for 2002 to 2005 C230 1.8L supercharged (European Model)

and

DP31590C for 2005+ 2.5L Sports Sedan

Which one should I get? I have the 1.8L supercharged, but it's not the European model. Are the 2007 C230 Sports Sedan brakes the same as the 2005 C230 with 2 piston brakes?

I've got them on my car. No complaints. They are supposed to be a better brand. I really haven't noticed any difference though.

The OEM style pads are dusty, but not squeeky. There are other formulas for racing/street use that have low dust. I put a set of these on a truck in the UK. They worked fine, fit perfect, and the finish and workmanship was equal to OEM pads. They cost half of OEM pads, but a little more than the bargain pads at the parts house.

I had EBC greenstuff on the M3 and they were great, hardly any dust at all, didn't take long to warm up and a stopping improvement over stock pads.

I need brake pads with little residue. This is killing me !

This black residue is killing me having to clean this every other day! What pads can i get to kill this problem as much as possible ? I have heard of a few, but not for MB's.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, outraleague. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the message boards, but I just found 13 threads that I just merged regarding brake pads and which ones to use.

TO EVERYBODY - Please, please, please SEARCH first before you post a new thread. Trust me it works! Slowly, but surely, I'm cleaning up the entire w203 forum so that people can find old threads and post in them if there are any questions after Reading through them, but please read them!

Just put a set of EBC Red Stuff a month ago, no problems, slight squeaking initially, feels like I have better stopping power. Significantly less dust than OEM pads.
