Do you have any websites or email addys? Bangkok is closer than the US to New Zealand so it might save me a bit on shipping.

I know I already answered you, but I have pictures somewhere on here also. And mig888 and I also had some pics of the "ghetto" harness that can be used (either plastic license plate holder from NAPA or metal connectors from OSH) rather than the expensive (well, it was expensive before) MB OEM version.

you can get it from mbnl.com from steve. i believe you also need to make custom brackets to hold onto the us plates since the mounting holes are different.

Here is a link that will be helpful:
LINK: Euro Trunklid Inserts

It has all the information you need from MBenzNL, to the ghetto brackets both mig888 and I made, to NO_WUR_E's bracket purchased directly from MB.

Since I don't want to start a new thread, and I'm interested in getting a Euro Trunk Insert (Trunklid) I decided to bump this thread rather than start a new one.

What I want to know is:

-- Where would I get a carbon fiber one like this one:
-https://mbworld.org/forums/2658573-post1.html

(There's also a picture of it with a Red Car)

-- What's the best way to mount both the Euro and US plate?
I'd like to have the Europlate behind the US plate.
I don't mind a short answer such as: "There's no special bracket made as of yet, just get creative."

Thanks

I've already searched online all over, and I can't find a mention of it other than some taiwan ebay-like site.
I can't read chinese/taiwanese, so... yeah. Help please guys

What the ****, it's just overlay?
No one makes a true CF rep?

Guess I'll have to do it the long way...
Order from Steve, paint, and find this overlay.

New question: Where do I get this CF Overlay?
Or will I just have to get it wrapped somewhere?

Any recommendations near San Francisco, CA?

Old post, but I just did the conversation in my 06 C55. I got a Jasper Blue insert from eBay UK and had it painted at the shop down street ($100) and the USA plates DO NOT FIT without a bracket or drilling holes in your plate. PLEASE don't do the EU plate behind a USA plate it looks soooooo completely tacky and looks like you are overkill trying to show off, but IF you wanted to go this route, you need the euro insert and that metal conversion bracket that comes on all the new Mercedes (if no plate or dealer plate, it's that shiny chrome thing, it is actually a bracket) place the insert on, place the metal bracket (screws go into euro holes, once that is on, place the euro plate (no screws) and put the USA plate over it and then screw in the USA plate into the holes designated in the bracket for the USA screws. Screw the USA plate tightly to hold down the euro plate. The euro plate will be supported by the screw below and above it from the USA plate u just placed on top of it.

If you read what I just posted, u would see I listed eBay UK (ebay.co.uk) I think mine was like only like 24$ shipping was actually more like around 46$ . I am pretty sure any w203 sedan insert will work cuz I bought one off a 2002 c class and it fit my 06 C55. Just had to have it painted for 100$

I saw what you posted but don't see any listed for that cheap, for $100 shipped plus $100 to have prepped and painted I would rather find oem primered or black salvaged. But I'll keep hitting uk ebay.

Dude, it's an MB part, it's not going to be "cheap", especially when the only place to get them is overseas where the euro and British pound make American dollars practically pennies. Exchange rate is what causes the price. And I went to the nearest shop to my house. They specialized in old car restorations, so maybe u could find somewhere cheaper. I just needed it painted asap and didn't wanna shop around and wanted it next dat. U could find someone on Craigslist to paint it out their garage for cheaper. Not much of the housing is exposed so I don't think it needs to be quite professional of a job. Here is the cheapest one I found

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/151200862544?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
There are plenty more on there. Make sure it is for a SALOON (UK talk for sedan) because some are for ESTATE (station wagon).

Also, if anyone is doing this conversion and is thinking of switching to these LED license lights:

http://m.ebay.com/itm/121213468725?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
This would be a good time to buy and install since you need to remove the license plate housing to install them anyways.

Here is a picture of result with euro plate conversion and led lights.
