I know, I probably will. Just wanted to give everyone a sense of how the plate fits the euro insert .

greetingz,
That's what I'm thinking as well (though I would rather have it just be the euro plate if i wasn't violating any laws :\). There are two other C's in the parking lot that I leave her in, I know that they're just thinking WTF.. how the hell does he have a euro plate back there?

Congrats on the C purchase steve , now start MBenzNLing it.

Nice!

I'm not a big fan of the dual license plate frames, but otherwise it looks pretty hott!

I saw something weird the other day, it was a Mini Cooper S with euro plates, but it said "CA" on it and it looked like his cali license plate... Is that legal to make your own plate?

But more pics of the car please flip! Is that the OEM "05 Sport Spoiler"? It's pretty hott...

No it's not legal to use your own vanity style plate (I've checked dmv many times haha). There's a regulation size to adhere to as well in CA. My '05 spoiler is better lookin AND i have a better camera!

You win on the camera, but I think it's quite clear that my spoiler is better. I even remember after you saw mine and said that it was the best looking spoiler you had ever seen.

Found a supplementary universal license plate bracket that'll work (and will allow for no drilling whatsoever. This particular brand is way too expensive, but I was at Super Autobacs yesterday and saw it (under $3) so thought I would try it.

Just slight modification needed. you need to cut off the ends of the right/left side openings. After doing that, you can screw the bracket in, still placing the brackets (Flip found at OSH) on top of this plastic bracket (both sides). The two holes at the top are perfect (well, maybe just a little high), but this way the license plate is pretty secure.

As most of you know, I don't have a digital camera, so I'll have to post pics when I can swing by my cousin's pad to borrow his. Those of you who'll be at the Irvine meet this weekend, I'll be happy to take the license plate off so you can see how the bracket sits. I'll try to draw what needs to be cut and how the OSH bracket sits, when I get a chance.

Here are the cut illustrations and where the OSH metal bracket will sit.

good find Drex !

with the MBWerks custom $30 adapter nowhere to be found....
I've done a little research, and by the end of the month, I should be in contact with a company in Germany that makes these things, for European cars that get shipped to the US. (usually because of military orders, they get to ship their purchased car for free). They still have to meet all the US DOT regulations and smog controls, but on the higher end newer European models, that is usually no problem.
Anyway, once I get all the info, and even get one shipped to me as a sample to ensure it works, I'll get you guys all the links and info.

Here's another one that I was considering trying so that the bottom portion of the license plate can be secured w/ double sided tape:

It still looks like the sides would have to be cut out on this one a little bit also, but probably not as much. We'll see how the one I have on works out and I'll experiment later on. These things are cheap, so no big deal.

In fact, I think they had this at Super Autobacs, so I might stop by on my way to the meet (since it's in Orange County anyway).

BTW, I'm gonna be late to the meet everybody. I've gotta re-take my written test, picture and eye exam at the DMV (in the morning). I've got a good record, it's just that after renewal through the mail twice, you're required to go in.

Carlos, what time is the pro photoshoot gonna happen. any idea of time? I wanna make sure I'm there for that.

This is great info guys! Now, I just got to wait until Steve has more in stock and in brilliant silver.

Drex, you be carrying a driver license with a photo of you when you were 18 huh? A lot can happen in 10 years. Definitely need a new photo update.

LOL...Actually, it's funny cuz I would've had a picture of me since I was 16, but I lost the actual id somewhere so instead of them sending me an updated id without the "red stripe", I had to go in and pay the $12 to get a new one. While I was there, they made me re-take the picture (I think it was when I was 19), but still, it was freakin' 9-10 years ago! They also told me that if I didn't look old enough at 16, they wouldn't have made me re-take the picture. I'm just glad I'm still the same size/weight and I aged well. I still get carded for freakin' cigarettes!

F' man, time flew by way too damn fast!
