Picking up my first Benz Tuesday!
Hey all - I just joined this forum, and am anxiously awaiting my new/first Mercedes-Benz!
They had to search the entire northeast united states to find it...but here it is:
2006 C280 4matic in pewter with ash leather inserts
Power Driver Seats/Steering Column w/ memory
Entertainment Package (CD changer, harmon kardon)
Sunroof Package (sunroof, rear sunshade, rain sensing wipers, auto tinting mirrors)
Sirius Satellite Radio
iPod integration kit with ipod mount in glove box
and....*drumroll please*...Command DVD navigation system
What a sweet car! Hehe...I pick her up at 4:45 on Tuesday and I'm looking forward to being a Benz driver :-)
...also just wanted to say hi to everyone in the forum!

Thanks :-). I'll be sure to report back on my findings with the ipod kit. I had a kenwood excelon stereo system with ipod kit in my old car which was "decent"...a little slow, and only handled playlists well. The MB kit is claiming full ipod control/function. We'll see what happens, but I'm just so excited! ...just about a day or so left to wait...

Alas, I did not get the lighting package -- there wasn't a single one in this area with all the features I wanted including that -- and although I love the look of the car with the HID lights, I should be able to survive without them (famous last words right?). Strangely, my insurance rate is slightly cheaper without them as they are considered a "high theft" item...go figure. Not that my insurance is by any means cheap - I'm 23 years old going from a Pontiac Grand AM GT to this :-).
Thank heavens for good paying jobs,

Eric,
congrats on your new MB !
Make sure you update your profile with location, and Year/Chassis/Model type.
That way when you ask questions later, people can be able to help you better.
And don't forget to use the "SEARCH" function on this forum.
Although there isn't much on the 2006 models yet, many of the popular questions like Bi-Xenons, tinting, lowering/suspension, wheels, grills, etc... have been discussed numerous times and you can get a lot of information by reading through those threads first and posting within them. If there's a question that hasn't been answered, then it's cool to start a new thread.
With all the excitement, I wouldn't sleep tonight if I were you !!!

Yeah, I didn't opt for any extended warranty on mine because I did the lease option -- I took advantage of their $399/month lease....and let me just say, even adding all I did, my monthly lease rate staying around that same number - of course I had a trade-in. Anyway - we'll see how I feel about this car on year three...I may purchase it off the lease with their buyout price. If so, I might consider extended warranties then -- but they will cost more *sigh*. Time will tell.
... and thank you so much for the warm welcomes and greetings! I can tell this is going to be a wonderful experience :-).

Congrats and hopefully you'll find some useful information here.
Since you are getting the 280, there won't be much engine mod. information here, but I'm sure it'll pick up the more people with 2006 models join.

Welcome,
Yeah, you might not want to mod your leased car... Much in the way you wouldn't want to remodel your rental apartment.
You'll find the standard headlights to be fine despite what many say here. I think that there are a few guys on this list that have the night vision of an eighty-year-old.
As for the NAV system, you'll hear people bash it, but it is great! I use mine a few times a week (I'm in real estate in a large metro area). If you read the entire manual (yes its 200 pages, but they are small pages) you'll find that it works very well and can be a very useful tool if you are going to do something more useful than cruising the movie theater parking lot on Friday nights.
Enjoy your car!

The navigation system sounds awesome - I can't wait to get my hands on it. The "little deal" that I got on the ipod kit install was $300 + $18 cradle, no installation fee because I got it installed as part of my vehicle's "prep"... He said installation would have been in the $200 range had I come back to have it installed later.
...meanwhile roughly 9 hrs remaining until I pickup my new baby :-)

Ok folks -- this car is absolutely beautiful and amazing. I have been getting compliments and comments from everyone who has seen it! I overheard someone say "the colors are gorgeous" as they walked past while I was walking back to my car from a Barnes and Noble....I love it!!! Look for pictures that I'll post this evening.
