Winter (Cold) mode, definite foot rest =]
Guys, on a slight slanted road, if you guys put the car in Winter or Cold setting, would it still go up? I use this button as a foot rest =] sometimes i hate stepping on the brakes on the way to school, 8 something in the morning...wondering what u guys think?

I think what he is trying to say is that when he puts the transmission control switch in Winter or Comfort mode, the car will not creep forward and thus allows him to remove his foot from the brake pedal to give it some much needed rest.
What do I think?

First people complain about the clutch being too much work, thus the majority of the cars are auto's. And now it's the break pedal being too much work , at this rate, soon we won't need to drive, the cars are gonna do it all for us!

the reason the car will not move forward in C setting is because they car is in 2nd gear... the driver ratio is greater, therfore the car wont roll forward unless you give a gas

Ohh and i thought Benz's take off in 2nd under light accel anyways? Only downshift to 1st if you step ont he pedal harder then normal when taking off. Atleast thats what i thought. Correct me if im wrong here tho.

Your talking about distronic and it can only apply 20% of brakeing force. SO your right we are almost there. Hey might as well have parktronic parallel park for us. And maybe soon we will have Autotronic. An autopilot for the car. LOL
Damn i guess until then ill have the wife drive. LOL

"S-classes equipped with optional Distronic Plus cruise control go beyond the standard car's safety features with a short-range radar system that "looks" at an area closer to the front of the vehicle than the long-range radar used by the cruise control. Information from the short-range system is used to increase the effectiveness of the brake-assist system (brake assist adds braking power in emergency situations, when most drivers apply insufficient pedal pressure) by adding brake pressure even faster when the radar senses objects in front of the vehicle. In cruise mode, the S-class will now come to a complete stop if traffic does and will start up again on its own."

Thanks Carlsbad! That's exactly where i read it from. Pretty cool how far technology has come isn't it? I just hope mercedes won't have their usual "bugs" in the new S-Class... specially with a system like that.
