Why thanks!....
Maybe I'll go eurostrips then...haha.....They DO look great!

I am also wondering what kind of drop do you have on your car? What springs do you have?.....

I need to lower mine and buy the euro strips and the rest is complete (tints, wheels, and calipers)......I'm getting excited that my project is finally almost over and I can enjoy the short Canadian summer....haha...

thanks in advance,
..Paul..

This actually looked awesome and the least expensive route if people don't want to buy Euro impact strips. The lenses looked especially good because he got the OEM's from me! Damn, memories... Can't believe that was 5 or 6 years ago.

haha nice!....Time flies with cars, that's for sure....

So there is a performance shop very close to me (around the corner) and they have the smoked out spray there. If I go this route though, I'd still need to purchase the chrome bulbs right?

The only reason I mention this is because the housing I was going to order is black and comes with the chrome bulbs. So if this is the case, I'll just order them.....

Or did you just use the stock housing, smoke it, and leave the stock bulbs in? If so, how does it look when the lights come on?.....

Thanks in advance,
..Paul..

I smoked it out using the tint/smoke spray that they use on remote control cars (I think it was Pactra Spray Tint) and used Testor's clear coat.

I left the stock bulbs in and it wasn't bad. It was a muted orange light from behind. Then, I got chrome bulbs just to put in to mute it even more. Either option is fine.

Follow the route Phil took for sure. 10X's cheaper and the model paint sometimes holds even better than that expensive stuff.

If I were to buy the smoke coloured ones and replace my OEM ones, is it just as simple as pulling them off?....Mine don't have any sort of screw or bolt from what I can see?......

I am not 100% sure I'll order them yet though. I'm going to take a look at the price of chrome bulbs and spray at the performance shop first........but my first question is just in case the prices are close...

thanks again,
you guys are awesome,

no screws...just take a small flat head and insert into front of assembly and gently pry out...i recommend wrapping the flat head in plastic or something so it doesnt sratch paint...but they just pop out and the bulb is twistedinto the lens so it holds it into the car...just twist out the bulb and twist bulb into new smoked lens!

2004 CLK320 Coupe
Front Bumper Lens Replacement

Hello Everybody,

I am new hear and a search didn't bring up any answer so I'll inquire here.

I have a 2004 CLK320 Coupe with a broken 'amber' (passenger-side) front bumper lens that I want to replace. I will probably replace it with clear but I was wondering how difficult it is to replace before I get myself into something I might regret. A quick inspection of the bumper shows everything (side and underneath) is sealed off. Is this a do-able project or . . . ? Thanks for any feedback.

Namaste' . . . . Vincent

Oops! I see my answer above. Thanks.

I have the clear crystal sidemarker lenses with the chrome/amber stealth bulbs. Even with clear lens the light is not as bright as original, or as amber, but it suffices and looks really good.My car is silver.

Dont mean to hijack this thread, but I had to ask...

Phil..how the hell did you manage to get rid of the wheel gap without lowering? If you went over the recommended tire + rim diameter by installing bigger rims, doesnt it throw your speedo/odo readings off?

The reason I ask is because I want to get rid of the wheel gap on my coupe but dont want to lower. Any advice?

the wheel gap is still there. it may just not be that apparent in the shot. I just have the oem 2005 suspension which is a lot lower than the previous years' suspensions.

my diameter is not thrown off by that much. I maintained virtually the same rolling diameter by using thinner tires to compensate for the larger rims. as a result, my speedo/odo readings aren't off by very much.

with a 2002, you need to lower it.

Yeh that makes sense...I didn't realize the 2005 stock suspension was actually lower.

The wheel gap on the 02 coupe is ridiculous...I can stick 4 fingers between the tire edge and the fender! Need to do something about that.

Thanks Phil.

PS: I think this is the first few pics Ive seen of your car...looks SICK!!

It's usually a very easy DIY. Most people get a flathead screwdriver and wrap it with something(in order not to damage the paint around the area) and just pry them out from the bottom. Don't be afraid to use some force to get them out as these won't break.

Well said. Just pry from the front of the car. It'll pop right out.

Those will work just fine. I have the same ones, great quality. Just be careful if you ever have to pry those out, the pin on the inside can break if you're not careful.
