Where you able to get your load resistors in the light housing or did you tap into the wires on the inside of the trunk? Where is a good location to gain access to the wires? The resistors I have are just slightly to big for the housing.

Ok so I bought the 5 watt .47 ohm load resistors and led light and wires them in parallel and nothing, would not even come on. The leds would come on for a second without the resistor but go back out. Can anyone help me out, I would really like to have that look?

I finally got my LED bulbs to work it took a 100 Ohm 10 watt resistor from radio shack on each bulb. They came in pairs and cost a 1.79. I just wired them into the wires under the trunk liner. The large brown wire and then each light had a purple and blue small wire.

And I think it was well worth the trouble it looks much better than the old yellowish bulbs!

Take a picture of the bulb so we can see how you did it. The LED looks a little different than mine I can see from the color unless its your digital camera.

The bulbs I did not make I just bought them from http://www.superbrightleds.com and attached the resistors in parallel from the wring harness inside the trunk. The bulbs fit in place of the stock bulbs and the wires are accessible by removing the trunk liner. Anything i can do to help let me know!

The light is a 39mm but I bought the wrong size 36mm but it still worked just has more play and less LEDs. The trunk lining comes down after you remove the push in clips. You will also have the remove the plastic cover for the trunk hinge. It has one push clip and several wrap around clips that will be obvious once you try to remove it. Ill do the diagram at work tom. But it will be crude

Ok this is the best I can do

The wires are all bundled in between the trunk and the liner. Once you get the liner out you can see the exact colors of the wires that go into the license plate light plug. They are both a variation of a purple blue striped wire with a common large brown wire. The wires run down the drivers side trunk hinge. I tapped into them mid way between the hinge and the center of the trunk. Feel free to ask me anymore question I have no problems helping but it will be very simple and clear once you get started.

I did this for the right side and it works perfectly. However, I did it for the left side and I'm getting a bulb out error and the bulb is turning off and on, does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks!

try plugging in the right light into the left light socket... if it works, then something is wrong with your light build... if it doesn't work, then idk...

ADDED: also can you list SPECIFIC links to the things you ordered and include some prices, and while you at a DIY... haha im so demanding... yea i kno some of the DIY is in this thread, but its all mixed up and since you just did it, its fresh in your head... =]

Did it, but it's still not working. The right side is fine, but I think the resistor is bad on the left.

I have found the perfect leds for the licence plate for the interior and for puddles. This night I will take pics. I have search a lot a buy a lot of led's so you can belive me if I say that ones are the best.

Before this I have tryed:
Luxeon 5W.
Luxeon 3W.
Luxeon 1W.
Japanese custom made high luminance leds.
SuperFlux.
PIAA.
Other led's.

Be carefull with superflux because all the ones that I found in e-bay (alone & ensamled) where old models and produce a diferent light

Conclusions:
1.- For the interior the best by far is superflux, the produce low heat and makes very good light output.
2.- For the licence plate the same with the advantage that no resistor is need !!! (Yes you have read ok; they are high power led and have enough consomation).
3.- For reading lights (Still developing)
4.- For parking lights (Still developing)
5.- For puddle lights Japanese custom made.

Front dome:
18 leds
288 Candelas @ 80º
360mA
(60€)

Rear Dome:
18 leds
288 Candelas @ 80º
360mA
(60€)

Licence Plate (X2):
6 leds
96 Candelas @ 80º
120mA
(20€)

Puddle lights
5mm
InGaN
40000mcd @25º
20mA

See some pics:

with the interior LEDs... these have resistors built-in to prevent them from glowing slightly even when car is off? Of do they still do that.

The leds inside stop when you close the car and are just a bit on under normal circunstances, but very very low.

Best Regards.

yes, that is the problem that I had with the ones I was working on selling. Unfortunately, there still seems to be no workaround and I'm not willing to put them in my car or sell to anyone else unless they are flawless.

I just picked up this thread today and dont understand what LED's work the best for the license plate....I went to Superflux.com like someone said but the sizes are in T-1 3/4 and i have no idea what that means?

Could someone point me in the right direction as to which led's are the best for the lisence plate on a 06 c230?

Covers come off from the outside, they just pull off when the screws are out. The wires are the only thing accessible from the inside.
