I bought a pair and they didn't fit...but I looked around and managed to have them fit in my interiors and wow I am really happy with that...so I went to another store and bought another pair since they seemed different sized and once again...these did not fit (poor size judgement I guess). But these fitted in my other car's interior lights as well! Yay now both my cars have nice interior lights...But I am just wondering...I read through this whole thread and for the people who went with the regular Festoon Bulb...what size is your bulb? I think i have tried 37mm already...does 39mm fit or does the 41mm size bulb fit better?
Thanks in advance.

the ones that fit in the mirror vanity lights will fit the license plate lights

Ite... Soo i just finished doing my liscense plate lights.

I used blue nail polish and colored the lens of the lights.

The liscense plate lights look like ocean blueish/Green.

I will post pics this week (just got 2 find my digital camera first).

Overall they look nothing like the L.E.D's but unique and pretty coool as well.

Since LED gives problem, from what I've read, I've gone to purchase this:
http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-2067.cfm

will update on how it goes on a w211.

Make sure that is the right length...I'm not sure about the length on a W211, but on a W203 you would need a 39mm long festoon bulb. The bulb you linked us with is only 36mm. Just make sure you take our your bulb in your license plate light right now and measure it up. Btw, I've made about five purchases through eautoworks.com...good online retailer.

The problem with eautoworks.com is that it says it's 1.5inch long, which is approx 38-39mm. However, the "cm" measurement do not correspond with it. YET, it says it will replace 6418 factory bulbs. So, I decided to give it a try.

I'm not trying to refute that it says 36mm in length. In fact, it does, but it also says 1.5" in length, which is 38.1mm. Don't know which is accurate, i decided to give it a try and see how it turns out on the basis that the website says it will replace a factory 6418 bulb.

This thread is long enough, maybe you can consider starting a new thread for the backup lights.

Just wanted to share a site I just found out through another thread... http://www.autolumination.com/
they have the license plate bulb...just go to the 6418 bulb section and scroll all the way down...select the 39mm size...perfect fit i'm sure...i'm ordering these along with some Silver/Chrome Amber signal bulbs right now!...I'll post some pictures when I got these in!

edit:
I forgot where I read it but I also heard a 44mm might fit BETTER...so I ordered both 39mm and 44mm...will tell you guys which one fits and post pics when I get these...this place has fast shipping...so hopefully by saturday? haha *crosses fingers*

Those may be too bright for the license plate. I have 4-led festoons from superbrightleds.com on my Focus and they are plenty bright for that purpose. Don't forget the resistors!

My C230 was very sensitive and gave a plate bulb out message and the stock bulbs were still working fine. I replaced them and the message never came back.

BTW:I'm sure the plate bulbs on my C class are 39mm.

The festoon bulb I got for the license plate light is their Xenon light...it's not LED...I'm not sure of the wattages (I tried to find out but nowhere to be found on the site)...I ordered them in 39mm length and 44mm length...will see which one fits...but I hope they won't burn out because they do look pretty bright (If you want to see them jsut head to www.autoillumination.com and go to their 6418 bulb section and scroll all the way down and that is where the bulb is) I will post pics and do a follow-up on how these "Xenon festoon bulbs" are.

be careful. the "xenon festoon" from autolumination did not work on my license plate lights. I bought two sizes and both did not work. they worked in my dome light, but looked like *** and really didn't illuminate the interior very well, so I just went back to stock.

That was my point. Even non OEM, or LEDs could trigger the 'lamp out' message. It's very sensitive and can even tell when the OEM bulbs are just old or about to go!

Thank you very much for the info guys. But I have to admitt...now I am in the slumps. I was so hyped up to get them...I went on a tour of this Biotech facility an hour drive away today in my friend's Sienna along with others (kicked *** being able to watch Season 4 of Family Guy on the way there and back)...and at night I saw W203's everywhere and I was like "I am damn glad I am getting rid of this ugly yellow light on my license plates"...then I read the updates on this....

Are those LEDs?
If so, which ones and which resistors did you use?

Has anyone tried the xenon festoon dome lights from autolumination?
They're not LED's so they might work without having to use resistors.
