Hyper-White & LED License Plate Lights thread
I thought i could use the dLED since they give off more cooler light, no?
i wanted to stay away from the LED one, i herd you have to change out a lot more and installation is harder, i'd seen a picture of the hoen replacement bulbs and they looked like what i wanted

Im not completely satisfied with the look on my car yet...seems like the light is concentrated on the edges...It looks great but could look better.
Maybe more brightness would help.

Resistors are needed only for LED bulbs which consume much less than 5W, to up the power consumption of the bulb + resistor combo to 5W, to simulate an incandescent 5W bulb.
These same ones actually.

Work great and are bright.
Do the ebay ones work on 2005 coupe guys? Oh and 39mm LED light bulbs will fit right?

so which is my best bet for (1) no errors (i don't want to use a resistor) and (2) the whiter/cleaner looking light?

OR
the ones from here: http://www.hoen-usa.com/licenseplate.htm
if the latter, which of these two? :
Höen dLED replacement license plate bulbs in 36mm and 39mm sizes (i think these are 4,500k)....and would it be the 36 or 39mm?
OR
Höen 4,000k direct replacement incandescent 36mm ?
TIA....its a W203 C32 AMG if that matters (it shouldn't i think)

I would say try these:
http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/5-Se...duct_info.html
I have a similar version (that I got from eBay a while back) on the w203 and they work great and have been running perfectly with no errors. I'm also running these exact bulbs on my gf's Cayman S and they work perfectly with no errors. (The Cayman S is just as finicky with bulbs as the w203 and I think it's due to it sharing quite a few electrical components.)

question. in the link, it says "9 Ultra-bright Xenon White 1W SMD LEDs "....so 9 1W LEDs....won't that throw a code if the stock ones are 5Ws?

Maybe the LED's are wired in parallel and only suck up the equivalent to the stock incandescent. All I know is that I've tried a lot and this one works the best.

They are error free, no resistors. I have had them on for a year with no problems.
That is the seller I bought it from but not the same link. The ones I bought had the following title (NO OBC ERROR 2003-2009 MERCEDES W209 LED LICENSE LIGHTS).
To fix my problem with the trunk bulbs being out, I contacted a local vendor (Southern CA) and he met me within 15 minutes. I picked up two 36mm dual Festoon LEDs for the trunk and some 194 plug-in bulbs for my headlamps. Everything worked out so well and I didn't get any errors. I'm going to be getting more soon. PM me if you'd like the guy's number. He's awesome and will test them with you before you have to pay.
