how to clear the amber in mirrors?
i'm sure this has been posted numerous times. has anyone figured out how to do it. can you please post step by step directions or pics.
thanks
Yes, the bulbs are incandescent, you can tell because LEDs would light up instantly, while these have the "charge up/charge down" time of incandescents.
My assumption is, the bulbs will be easily removable for quick shop replacements. Someone just needs to figure out how to get the cover off the darn thing...

lynn.... my 2001 240 manual says that they are leds... the ones in the mirrors and the one's in the 3rd brake light too... i guess the coupe is different
Honestly, I can't tell if they are LEDs or Incandescent. I see the odd S-Class here in Dallas with one or more of the bulbs burned out (not all, just some). Leads me to think they are incandescent bulbs wired in parallel, because I think I read somewhere that if one LED burns out, they all go out... No, wait, that can't be true, because I know I've seen some Cadillac LED CHMSLs with odd numbers of LEDs burned out.
These mirrors are bluntly exposed to the elements. Driving through a rainstorm has to press water into every nook and cranny. This leads me to believe that the strip is a sealed unit, to eliminate/minimize shorts.
I like my amber bulbs as they come from the factory, so I'm not remotely inclined to dissect my mirrors to solve the mystery. One of you non-DOT-conforming La La Landers will have to blaze the trail on this one.
