Hi everybody,

Our C230 was built on Monday (3/20). Tuesday it was "on the boat". That was fast!

Has anybody tracked their vehicle after it was built?

Any ideas how long it will take for our car to arrive in Chicago?

Mine took 12 days to arrive in St. Louis after it was on the boat. Patience is a virtue!!! What did you order???? Mine is Iridium Silver/Ash and I have gotten lots of compliments on the color! My last 6 cars were all black and this was a big step for me. No regrets so far!!

Crossing the Atlantic is less than a week on the water.
The car will arrive in Jacksonville, FL at the MB preparation center (the VPC).
You can look at it at
lat 30.208
lon -81.560
I attached a pict of the prep center.
From there, it's few days for the prep.
But then you need to wait on a full truck to come to your city. It can be right away or you can wait few weeks.
My sales-person told me that once he picked up the car there to speed up the process and drove the new car to the customer.

The trucking company that picks cars up from the Maryland VPC is really, really slow. It's been taking about three weeks from the time in is "on the water".

Forgot to mention that Chicago is a major hub for shipping to dealers throughout the Midwest, so that may help. When my dealer tried to locate my car, he called a Mercedes office that was in Chicago to find out what was on the boat and available for dealer trade. They could tell what cars in which colors with what options were pre sold or to be held for dealer inventory. It also helps if it's close to the end of the month as dealers are trying to get as much invoiced as they can during the month so they keep their sales #'s up. This has an effect on their service ratings, salepersons commissions, etc.

I ordered my C230 on March 13th. I cannot wait for it to get here. They told me it won't be here until late June, early July though!

Cool Car! That red is a beautiful shade, and you won't see yourself everwhere you go, like with silver. I guess in Peoria you need a warm fanny, and folding seats should be standard. I will never buy another car that keeps my left foot busy. The autobox with steering wheel touch to shift is just so 21st century.

You were smart to get Sirius, it is so much better than old fashioned terrestial radio. When you get the car and know your ESN call Sirius and see if they will credit the 6 months against a lifetime subscription. Those sharp pencil boys at Mercedes are at it again, only 6 months service when you pay five times the value of a sat receiver! (add on units run about $100.) In 2005 they gave 14 months service when you bought a receiver.

But, dude, you didn't get Bix! Would have made it the perfect sports tourer. Egads, for a mere 8 Benjimins ($ 800) you could have had super bright lights, with the automatic leveling sensors on both axels, and a heated headlight washer system.

I'd say April 15, will have you grinning like a school girl in your new Benz. Just in time for the return of $ 3 gas.

Update!
I recieved a reply by email from my sales guy today....

...car has been submitted to customs, its on a vessel
just outside Belcamp, Maryland....expected to clear customs and prep
April 4th.

Its going to Chicago. I would not expect delays due to trucking. Maybe we'll be able to pick it up the 8th?

Rich, once my sales guy told me the car was on the truck, it actually delivered a lot faster than I thought it would and it was being delivered from the East Coast to Los Angeles. So, your projection of a date might be right on.

Good luck with the negotiations and hope to see pics after your purchase!

What Negotiations?
There wont be any negotiating from me. We determined a price on the phone before I ordered and put the deposit on a charge card. The authorization to bill letter was very specific about the price. If they try to 'jack me around Ill dispute the charge and spend my money at the Acura dealer.

Really? Wow, that's interesting. When I ordered my car, they told me that they are not allowed to talk firm prices until the car reaches the lot. But if you were able to negotiate everything prior...Hey, that deserves a .

That's awesome. If it's gonna be hassle free, all we need to see is pics when you go to sign all the documents and pick it up!
