FEELER: CLK55/SLK55 Brake setup group-buy

Alright guys here's the deal. We're able to get these brakes which are the 6-piston front and 4-piston rear AMG brake setup for the CLK55 AMG and the SLK55 AMG. If people are interested please put your name on the list. Aiming for 5 or more people. More people = better chance to push down the price more. They will be ordered as the CLK55 AMG parts, so bolt on should not be a problem as W209 and W203 shares a lot of components. If there are enough interest I can then figure out a good price for the package.

W203 slightly modified
You should check the price of the 6 pot kit (assuming you are also doing the rear kit 4pot). I think you can get 5 people but the price tag for 1 buyer should be a useful guide.

I've upgraded my fronts to the 2004.5 update sedan type...and I know I lost the use of my spare because of it. I also know that only certain rims will fit over it. Moving to this type of brake...will my 18s fit or is it 19+? Also, what is the price range you are thinking...you don't even state how much they normally run, so I have no clue how much they typically cost.

oops...sorry, right now I do not have the price list with me. I'll post up the retail first thing tomorrow.

for the spare tire question, you will need a C55 spare or the CLK55 spare kit. Those will clear the large bbk and are pretty compact. Or if you choose to run a full size spare you would need a 18" AMG wheel.

I'm not even concerned with a spare at this point in time...just will my 18s fit or only certain 18s work?

I'm interested in getting the 4 pot silver AMG rear calipers and rotors from the 2006 SLK 55 for my 2005 C55 AMG. From what was posted above these should be a direct bolt on. Let me know please.

Also, if the front brakes are better I may get them as well, however, I believe the 2005 C55 brakes are as good if not the same -- let me know again.

Put me down for the rears.

Frank,

It seems that the AMG 6 piston brakes which I bought is cheaper in where I reside. Does the price include the brake pads ?

For the Clk 55 Brakes you have to use 18" wheels and above and for the C55/C32 Brakes you can u from 17" wheels and above

Any pics of the 4 piston rear BBK setup for the SLK55 or CLK55? Are the rear rotors crossdrilled? Two piece or one piece cast steel? Are the rear rotors 330mm x 22 mm ventilated rotors? Probably not cross-drilled.

The rear caliper doesn't affect your spare. Only the front does. you already have the 05 spare for the bbk up front. you will have no problem. However the only difference you would see if the 2-piston rear brakes are vented from the C32/55. They are not the one that's cross-drilled. I believe you already have the vented rear. The C32/55 rear set are recommanded for people with C240/320.

I will seek out pictures of them for you guys. The 55 AMG 4-piston rear are cross-drilled, but are one piece cast steel.

the prices includes the calipers, rotors, and pads btw. Shipping's extra.

Frank,

I was just wondering about this upgrade the other day. I'd be interested if we can get 10 folks as, according to your numbers, we'd save almost a grand off of retail. I'm looking at front brake replacement soon.

Frank,
Is this price different then what we talked about for the rear? If this is a good price for the rear four piston with cross drilled rotors and pads Im in for the rears. As for fit I had to put my 17' seven spokes on while I waited for my 5mm spacers for my front c32 set up and it fit, with just a hair to spare. I havent tried my spare yet but I can try it on, and check if people are interested in knowing. I think the rotors are the same diameter on four piston set up and six piston but someone will have to varify that??? The caliper could be a little larger too ??

The calipers and rotors are much larger on the front than the rear. I don't know how upgrading only the rear to 4 piston and keeping 4 piston C32 front brakes is going to affect your brake balance. Probably not ideal. I already have front 6 piston Brabus brakes, so 4 piston rears is no problemo for me.

You should upgrade the fronts to 6 piston as well. I went from the 4 piston C32 brakes to 6 piston Brabus brakes and it is a lot stronger and better feeling.
