Panoramic Moonroof popping noise

Panoramic Moonroof popping noise
OK.. this just started happening yesterday. My moonroof opens up just fine, but when I go to close it.. it closes about halfway, then it starts making a popping noise (i.e. pop, pop, pop, pop) until fully closed.. I WD40'd the tracks but it's still doing it.. any insight as to what's going on? Thanks in advance..

could you post pics of your panoramic moon roof... ive hardly ever seen these on a mb before... i just randomly saw it on a c class, i think..... i bet it looks great... sorry to change the subject

I have never had any moonroof problems on my car......of course, it doesn't have a moonroof. 
Seriously, a moonroof (sunroof, etc.) is an option that doesn't age gracefully. Go ahead and grease the mechanism and adjust as much as possible. This may put off the inevitable, which is replacing all the mechanical parts (gears, cables, etc.) in the moonroof. This is by no means cheap, but any other solution will only be a temporary band-aid.
Moonroofs (panoramic or not) are problematic on many cars that are a few years old. It is not normally covered by an extended warranty. Complaints are numerous.
Helpful hint: if you are buying a new car you plan to keep several years, consider buying one without a moonroof.
