Luckily for your, your covers cost about $25 each. Unfortunately for the AMG bumpers, the whole housing needs to be replaced. I was recently a victim of that but have fixed it since. I purchased some headlight covers from ebay....pm if you want ot know the seller's name. I haven't put them on yet, but will be doing so soon.

They said the same thing for a long while with non-amg kits because the part numbers for the lenses couldn't be found. I get the impression that if we could find it for the non amg bumpers, there are probably part numbers for the amg bumpers too except no one has spent the time to search for it :x

The clear film that you are looking for could most likely be found at a "signmaking" company that uses a plotter to cut vinyl. They may have some clear vinyl in stock. The brands your looking for would be manufactured by 3M, MacTac, or Avery. There are different qualities of the vinyl. Some conform to curves better.
The stuff they use is very similar to the vinyl wraps they use on race cars and any advertising you see on trucks, buses, etc. these days.
I have used the clear vinyl on a cracked headlight (VW Passat) where moisture was getting inside the lense. After applying, the moisture was gone.
It didn't seem to effect the headlight beam.
If you can't find any in your area and if you don't need much, let me know or PM me. Good luck.

I installed the X-Pel films when the car was new (http://www.autoanything.com/lights/60A1218A0A0.aspx) and, although I have had to replace the windshield due to rock pits, the lights are still OK.

You can find the RVT silicone at any auto parts store. Apply a bead of silicone on the fog light housing and press the lens in. Let dry.

Did you already put the fogs that you bought from me (for dirt cheap, mind you because I didn't know the housing was melted) on your buddy's car?

for the non-AMG bumper ones, Mercedes is messing with you. You can buy this cover for sure. Many members of done it. The AMG one however cannot. I didn't believe it at first b/c i thought they were just trying to hastle me and get $200 from me, but after receiving the part, the 2005 amg foggies are all glass. It's pretty thick 1/8" glass that's actually part of the entire assembly and cannot be removed without cutting.

yours should be a shell can that be replaced. If you're still having trouble, I recommend the ebay sets that are about $75 a pair for the whole assembly.

anarchygraphics is the ebay seller for the clear covers that I got. They were the cheapest by far. When they arrived however, I noticed they're Avery branded. Supposedly Avery does have a division that's for automotive use, but I can't say for sure this is the one. I emailed the seller and he claims it is. I haven't installed it yet, but will be doing so soon.

yeah, the mailbox here sucks. There's far from enough room. I wish the mods would charge a small annual fee to have it upgraded to higher number of messages.

those fog lights

Well it seems I am not the only one that has this problem. Not even a year old and I have chips and a (well it is gone now) fog light cover gone from debris and the construction on I-395 & I-495 in Virginia. These roads are hell on a new C-230s. So were is the best place online to purchase just the glass cover ? Thanks

Fog lamps: You would think these things should be more durable.

If I have this in the wrong place, sorry (I have no idea if my car is a W203, W204...it’s an ’07 C230 Sport). In the four months since I bought this car, a rock put a 7” crack in the window and another rock broke the driver’s side fog lamp. It didn’t surprise me that the windshield was going to be relatively expensive to replace, but I was pretty irritated when my dealership wanted to charge ~$400 to replace the fog lamp ($270 for the lamp + $110 labor). The dealership said that on the Sport Edition, the entire assembly has to be replaced, not just the lens. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that MB is ripping off customers, because for $270 these lenses should be bullet proof. Regardless, I’m not about to start paying $400 every time a rock breaks one of those lenses and was wondering if anyone can recommend aftermarket fog lights that will work with the existing ’07 C230 connections and that have replaceable lenses. Either that, or can someone recommend a place that sells the ’07 C230 fog lamps without an absurd markup? Thanks.

If hes got an 07 sport, that means hes got the amg kit - meaning the fog light's lens is built into the assembly and you cant just replace the lens - its in the DIY thread.

As for 400 dollars to replace one fog light - thats ridiculous. Just buy it and install it yourself... wont take more than an hour even if you've never done it before and shouldn't cost you more than 100 bux for the fog light.

I'll suggest hitting up stickercity also and buying their protective light films also. The fog light lenses are completely horizontal unlike the windshield, thus gettin hit by a rock isnt much of a deflection, but more like completely eating the rock.

I’m glad someone else thought that was ridiculous too - any idea where I can get one for less than the $270 that the dealership is asking? After searching on the Internet, I haven’t had any luck finding a place that sells the lamp assemblies for the ’07 model. I’ll also check into the protective film. Thanks for your help.
