Carbon Fiber Hood... Help

Just got the carbon fiber hood (Thanks to Brian). But i got a quick question. Would you install the shocks underneath this carbon fiber hood? The shocks are the two long pieces on the left and right side that holds the stock hood up without using any stick or hands. I've heard that shocks can crack the carbon fiber hood? Which i find it very hard to believe...

Frank you might know this since you're the Wizard of all Mercedes. Thanks in advance!

Johnny, you only need 1 (at least that's how flip had his). It's strong enough to hold the hood up, while at the same time not so strong that it would break the hood. I'm pretty sure flip only had the driver side on, but can't remember.

Might be too much pressure for the hood, so that might be where people were saying that you can't use the hood struts (if you use both) cuz it'll crack the hood. The hood struts hold up the OEM hood which is heavy as hell, so you figure that the pressure of both struts holding up a hood that is 3X's as light wouldn't be a good idea.

you can use the struts for the hood. the vis hood are made strong enough as long as you don't abuse them. On the other hand you don't have to use them if you don't want to.

Let me know if you need any more help.

amen to that!

He bought it from another board member that was selling a used one. If you have been considering getting one, they have them available through the VIS website. VIS manufactures the carbon fiber hood.

I'll post picture sometime this week. Bought it from Brian who just recently joined mbworld. 300 cash. Had to do some modification at a body shop for $30to get the carbon fiber hood aligned perfectly. VIS hood aren't made to the exact specs.

the one Will had fits pretty well too. other than the front grille some of the screws doesn't line up correctly so you can only put 4 screws in.
