Hi,
I would like to install the new Comand DVD APS on my C200 CDi year 2001.
Is possible installed it? which adapter can I use? where I can buy it?

I have done it in my car but it is very expensive. If you want to change the comand with no other additional fiber connected components such as h/k AMP, changer, teleaid, phone, voice, then you will only need the following.

1. dvd comand unit
2. bracket to hold above
3. a/c controls
4. upper switch row
5. upper and lower trim panels
6. comand dvd harness

I search the adapter cable from ISO (old comand) to fakra (new comand aps)

and even with those parts you still do NOT have full integration with your steering wheel and instrument cluster - so you will have to get some of that swapped as well (be aware that for the 2001 you might have to do some steering wheel wiring changes as the airbag has a 4pin MF connector (instead of 3pin) and the car does not have a steering column module).
Besides that you will find that if your car has PARKTRONIC or a REAR SUNSHADE you will have to do something with that as well to make it work properly again after the upper switchrow has been swapped out.

In short: CD rom comand ishould be good enough as far as functionality goes.

Steve was being sarcastic. There is no original mercedes adapter. The one on mbdoctor's site is a homemade one. Also, he mentions the need for other parts.

there IS an original mercedes adapter (for those 2005 and up cars that come with radio prewiring from factory but without radio) but yes - sarcastic...that piece of 20 euro wiring doesn't make it any easier to swap to comand APS

The way to get DVD comand for you is 2 ways ---IMO
1.Get a comand equipped car
2.Mail to Steve

the 2005 radio prewired cars have the same A & B connectors as the pre 2005 cars had...
