Service Prices
Are these prices reasonable? As well, what exactly does the Service A include? I tried to ask them, but they were quite ambiguous.
Thanks, guys.
Secondly, you need to tell us which bloody car you drive. The prices for service for four cylinders and six cylinders (or eight cylinder AMG cars) vary.
Yes, those are very standard prices, in fact, the service A is very reasonably priced. My dealership charges $270 USD for service A. I normally get a discount but I still pay around $200 USD.
Oil change, is around $90 USD at my local dealership. Includes synthetic (only 5 quarts), rubber ring, new filter, and labour.
Regarding the contents of Service A, the service managers are ambiguous because it's a waste of their time to explain it when it's explained fairly thoroughly in the owner's manual. It's basically an oil change and a fancy inspection.
Lastly, since I am not an authority for Canadian service prices, I suggest that you phone your next closest dealership and ask for a quote for comparison. You can try this before starting a new thread as well.
A Mar 06 "B" service included parts for $206, labour for $250 (shop rate now $113.50/hr). Add taxes of 14% and total is $520. Prices are Toronto, MB Canada.
"B" service included "parts" of oil filter, 7L mobil 1 0W40, dust filter, 2 wiper blades, V-belt cleaner, glass cleaner, air filter and another fancy inspection detailed in your maintenance manual.
As well, my car was vandalized last night when someone scraped a key hard and dented the body near the rear wheel on the driver's side.
Does anyone know of any good (and honest!) independent shop in Vancouver to have the dents and deep scratches removed?
Request a replacement copy of the service booklet from your service manager at the dealership, expect it to be complimentary, if it isn't, request it. If they refuse, then explain you are insulted. They take a large profit from you, they can give something very small and little back.
Also, I've been informed that the policy for loaner cars is that it's $40 dollars a day while the car's in service, regardless of whether you purchased your car from them or not.
Is this true, or are they trying to steal even more money?! Btw, this is the Vancouver dealership in Broadway. The service manager says that it's been the policy for 5 years...but last time I brought it in, they DID include a loaner for free since my purchase was made there (and the salesman promised me a car would be given every time it was in service).

Right now, the A-service costs $280.19 CAD w/ loaner....
Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.
My dealership usually provides me with a shuttle or gives me priority service and finishes my car as soon as I can since I'm too young to qualify for a loaner car.
