C240 Perfomance
And no I did not buy a C240 over a C230. I bought the C230 first cuz it was less expensive, faster and sportier looking, but after being in the C240 loaner I quickly changed my mind
well maybe not quickly, took me a few months, but changed my mind.

would it be the sonorous nvh vibrations and errant sounds emanating from the cement mixer motor you have?
or the award winning curvaceous’ness of the CRX benz styling that simply cant be put into words?

Now that that's over, lets make this list of parts for the C230 Sedan/C240 Sedan/C320 Sedan. Pulleys, chips, ECU's, whataver! Any prices and site go here now.

And even if it does...it doesn't prove anything. My Mike Tyson example...Buster Douglas beat his ***, how many times out of a hundred would that have happened again? It was 100:1 shot, and it happened. Everyone saw it. But 99 other times, Douglas would have gone down.
I'm sure there are instances of 240s zooming faster from 60-130, but they're abberations. It's just NOT in the specs. HEAVIER + LESS HP + LESS TORQUE + TERRIBLE TRANNY + UGLY + HIGHER DRAG= SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWEEEEERRRRRRR at EVERY speed. Ok, the ugliness has nothing to do with it...
And I'm not talking lame-*** 5-speed to 5-speed. Take the C230 at its best, the 6-speed, vs the C240 at its best (oh that's right, it already is) and THEN show me video after video of the street-sweeper 240 shredding the 230. Lol, never happen. Why did you guys buy the c240 if you're so insecure about its ice cream truck-like acceleration? :p You don't see 230 owners running around telling everyone how relatively fast their car is...and isn't the reason clear? We have nothing to prove.
When I had the 240 loaner waiting for my 230 to arrive from the dock, everyone who saw it asked hesitantly "THAT is the car you bought?"...when I told them no, it's a loaner, everyone responded with a "whew, good thing". Now with the 230 loaner, everyone says "wow, NICE car". SO you want speed? If that's what you need to like your car, you can have it.

"Ok I have a C230k and it is a great car. I love driving it on a daily basis and in no way am I bashing the car. I just had an observation and I wanted to bounce it around this forum a little.
So last night an associate and I were driving home and I decided to see how much quicker my C230k was when compared to his 2004 C240 loaner vehicle. So on the freeway we did a pull from say 55 to 110 mph. Now given the performance specs, the C230k should slowly walk away but this night was not what I expected.
The C240 checked out and pulled 4-5 car lengths by the time we reached 110 mph. As I sat there in pure shock I asked to run it again and this time I lost again to with the same margin of victory for the C240.
So we got off the freeway and did a 0-60 run on an empty stretch of frontage road. The C230k jumped out of the hole faster and reved through first and second far more quickly but as we neared 80 mph (and ended the race) the C240 was door to door with a head of steam pulling itself away.
What is wrong with this C230k? The car is equal to a family members C230k in performace so clearly my car works fine. I think MB has made the C240's numbers look slower to increase the sales of the C230k. The 230k is a better car and its sport chassis and body kit make it a must have over the C240 but this performance gap was shocking."

It's like Philly and New York. Philadelphians despise New York, while New Yorkers don't even know Philadelphia exists. Now, to keep things in perspective, the C230 is NOT the New York of MB's lineup....It's more like Miami...a fun, happenin' little town. What's the 240? How about, hmm, Cleveland? Ha, you think people in Miami spend time worrying about Cleveland?

On a side note... I won my first race! It was against a Mack Truck (no trailer)! I kicked his ***! He didnt even know what hit him! Although that may be because he probably didnt know we were racing!
you mean posting this vid of my daily driver C230k getting spanked by a loaner C240 is going to make me rich? christ i better get to the gym, wash and wax my SL, get ready for my track day tomorrow, and get this video formatted asap! I have a lot to do! sounds fun though....
100 bucks? well that pays for part of the new tires for that C230k... come on lets get 9 people with 100 buck bets and I get free tires! sounds fairly good to me. Ill just be at the gym while you all get ready
