BOV for C230 K Coupe?

Has anyone added a BOV to their c230K Coupe? I am not really looking to add it for the sound, but rather to extend the life of the S/C by relieving backpressure when shifting if there is air in the tubes.

Thanks,
Erik

Someone has posted that there is a BOV which exhausts the overboost into the air filter box. I haven't checked it myself.

according to Lucas, the coupe already has a BOV. see the referenced thread for more info.

Young, that was one of my best finds, a genuine BOV that will work on any car. Wonder if anyone on the forum bought it.

Great, thanks, its on page 4 of that post. Now i'm wondering if my 98 SLK Kompressor had one too. Also, does the '02 coupe and the '03 coupe (different engines) both have the BOV or only one or the other.

if it has an eaton s/c, it has a built-in bypass valve. i know the 2002 has a eaton, but i have no clue as to whether the 2003 uses an eaton or some new system.

From the cutaway pics at mbspy, it appears to me that the 2003's have a different supercharger.

there is not need for one with our "roots" style blower....if it was cent. S/C then yes....but since its directing the air into the car from the blower....there is really none present...

The throttle body on the C230K M111 and M271 motors is between the roots-SC and intake manifold, therefore a bleed valve is necessary. For the same reason it's required on a turbo or centrifugal SC, to prevent excessive pressure on the throttle plate when the throttle is snapped shut, since the throttle is in the pressurized region of the intake system. The screw-type kompressor of the C32 has the throttle on the unpressurized side of the intake, therefore it doesn't have a bleed valve.

Cheers, BT

I heard 2 MB with BOVs. Reiger SLK with the SLK230 had some vortech one installed. Sounds crazy. Also, Lu1026 with the silver C280 has one too. The SLKs is way louder and crazy. Buell you remember James car?
