Anyone have any idea how the k-box improves power? It is obviously a piggyback system that tricks the ECU.... Any ideas?

That is the KD-box you mean? K-box is not KD-box.

Kleemanns quoted:

The K-Box is an electronic recalibration device that greatly enhances both power and torque through the entire operating range of the engine.

It also shows that a 180 Kompressor engine stock at 143hp pushed to 193hp just by using K-BOX alone.

How does it achieve that?

supposedly 2 wires go to the map sensor, and 2 wires go to the MAS .

My hunch is that it lowers the map voltage seen by the ECU... making it think that there is less boost in the motor... on the C180,C200 this makes the ECU use the stock electronic bypass valve (more aggressively because it thinks the boost is lower) providing the full 11psi (which is what the supercharger is geared to) into the C180,C200 engines

doing this same trick on a C230 would make boost come online sooner as the bypass valve is closed longer... and it would probably advance the timing in the low end a bit as well too ...

That's my hunch...

I have been trying that method by intercepting the MAP sensor signal and the MAF airflow signal with a Unichip piggyback system and have only managed to squeeze another 8hp out of a 200 kompressor engine with vigorous tuning on a dyno!

Wonder what other signal it also modifies...

I have the K2 kit with header and it makes a big difference. The K box does connect to the MAF and MAP and changes the signal to the ECU. See my install pictures.
