W203/CL203 Aftermarket Exhaust Thread - All you want to know
#2576
Do to major differences in the intake/exhaust stroke of the different powerplants, what your proposing would be like getting a Harley to sound like a Gixxer 1000.
I believe it has to do with a very fast and short exhaust stroke of the Nissan powerplant coupled with the whole exhaust system being tuned to a higher pitch. Someone please correct me if I am off base here. I just remember either reading or hearing something about why those cars sound the way they do.

Piping doesn't look like 2 1/4. Looks like 2.5/2.75 to me.
Also, did y-pipe the piping from your secondary cat? Looks like he put on two mufflers, so that it wouldn't be obnoxiously loud, thing is for a force induced car, that length of dual piping may not be "ideal" for airflow.
I can see why it cost as much as it did though, based on how they did the piping.

wait so do you think there will be a lot of back pressure in the future?
yeah its pretty loud the way it is already...similar to roland's, but noticeably louder than his.

Actually, there's probably less back pressure with this setup, but as it's been discussed several times, the supercharged engines tend to respond better with a little back pressure.

could someone with a eisenmann exhaust measure theirs, i am going to do dual tips wich require relocated the exhaust and i need to see if it will fit, i think the sedan has a better chance than the coupe version. I have asked several people but no one has done this yet. I have searched web sites that sell them and no dimensions are they.
I also measured the pipin on my coupe which is 2 1/8 all the way except for the inch before and after the cat & resonator which is 2 1/4
thanks

come to think about it, roland, i think my tips are a bit smaller than the OEM in terms of how "oval" the tips are. but in terms of the width, mine are more wider up down compared with the OEM

I kinda notice that when it goes from gear 1 to 2, 2 to 3, it doesnt lag like it did with the stock...i cant really tell if i got an performance gain from this setup, but it kinda seems....faster. maybe its just me.

they do look a little more round, either way, the setup looks sick... after all the research, glad it turned out the way you wanted it... do you have any more pics of the car on the ground??

I used to think that way and when I had my old Magnaflow muffler, the car sounded alot louder, but didn't feel faster and still had the lag LOL

I'd highly doubt that there were any gains. I'm sure the airflow is better with the new piping, but only way to be sure if there were horsepower gains would be a before after dyno.

white and whiter
how does it sound? I'm sure drex mentioned it before. running two muffler's gonna kill your exhaust flow.

it sounds very deep and throaty...rumbly...then at WOT its gets loud and deep...you could still hear the supercharger doin its thing, but yeah overall its loud and deep.
in terms of flow, im hoping when the exhaust really breaks in, i wont experience any backpressure, which drex says wont happen...only time can tell though...

Just thought I'd post some pics of my finished exhaust. Props to Roland for helping me figure my setup out. The guy I went to actually ended up going a different route due to lacking a mandrel bender, but I think it turned out nice! Before you all ask: I used a magnaflow muffler, 3" piping all around and Borla tips. Even with there being a few slight hiccups, it only ended up costing me about $450 Pretty good bang for the buck

FS: Magnaflow Race (High Flow) Cat
I am selling one Magnaflow Race (High Flow) Cat. I purchased two from an mbworld member for $140 shipped. I have decided not to replace my stock front (primary) cats on my C32 with these. I need the money for a different mod. I have sold one for $70 shipped (shipping ~$20 to CA). The buyer (mbworld member) felt gains and an increase in the s/c whine. The one left has never been installed or let alone been opened as it is still still in the original Magnaflow box.
2.5' in and out. Universal fitment. Retail for $100+ each. I have one left and will sell it for $70 shipped (continental US). Part number 59956. 49 state legal. PM offers or for details.

Another thread for that Cat?
I think we been through this. Please post the Magnaflow model number so people can check the spec. and don't get stuck with something that won't pass smog. Now if they plan to use it in a racing application, of course it won't matter (but they wouldn't need it at all if it was for racing), or even possibly in other states.
I'd love to see you sell this, just don't want to see a member buy it, pay 100 bucks to get it welded in and then fail smog since the primary reason they'd be buying it is to replace a faulty one thats failing smog.
