why is your exhaust too loud?
No, you cant tell at all when its idling, but at a dead stop if I floor it I get a raspy sound. There is so much more exhaust that is being forced out now with the header and the high flow cat that it sounds exactly like that. It sounds like the engine is breathing so much easier.Originally Posted by advans

Mine has a SC but i still don't think it would sound as good as the V6's do. That's why i'm looking into buying an exhaust that would sound throaty and that rumbles but it's also not very loud inside.

Advans, do you have anywhere pictures of your car posten and if not can you post some? Would like to see how the car looks like?
Another thing guys. Those K&N green filters do they make any difference in noise or performance? And I found Tein Springs fro about $160 a set, should I go with them or should I just buy the H&R springs. I don't wanna go with the coilovers yet but eventually I will. I'm just afraid that the rear with the H&R springs is going to be too much for the PA roads. They suck. If you guys have any close up pictures of the rear with the H&R springs, i would appreciate it.

Remember I am not getting these these for power, it was just something I came across while looking for silencers. http://www.nipponpower.com/view.phtm...st%3A+Silencer

those are the silencers they put on those huge ricer exhaustsOriginally Posted by pugguy2001
I just had the Kleemann header installed on my c230. Its been about a week and a half and 700 miles or so. The performance is unbeilevalble! The tone in the exhaust did change alittle but its nothing like an after market exhaust. I was wondering if anyone has tried these exhaust silencers. The Nippon ones also claim some mid power I guess because it builds up alittle pressure before the traps open. My main concern is to try to get my car alittle quiter, but if there are silencers that claim more power why not get those. As a matter of fact i did think about changing the whole exhuast system but Corey from Kleemann told me there were no real gains. The stock exhuast on the 2005 c230 is wide enough. i am glad because the Kleemann exhaust would be louder than what i have now plus I would have to get the Kleemann rear bumper to fit the exhuast. I am looking for a quiet muffler for my C230.I was going to get AMG muffler but I was told it could be bad for my engine and stuff.
I had magnaflow and I took it off, it was too loud for my taste
Right now, I only have my stock exhaust on the car and it is the one with the declining tips! The ugly one!
Any recommendations?Perhaps, anything that will look straight on my car and don't have to make my own valence.
Thanks.

The quietest muffler is the stock muffler. Just buy the tip from the dealership and you're set (cuz obviously, you're just going for the look and not the sound). Originally Posted by nibo83

An AMG muffler was bad for your engine? Who told you that?

Come on Drex, those AMG tips are horrendous! The quietest muffler is the stock muffler. Just buy the tip from the dealership and you're set (cuz obviously, you're just going for the look and not the sound).

And how would the AMG mufler be bad for the car?

depending on which engine you have it could be bad for the car, or so i've heard. for example you could not throw a C55 exhaust on an I4 C230 Kompressor. has something to do with backpressure maybe???

Well, the C55 muffler is a different story. It's geared to eliminate back pressure for the huge v8 engine. Not to mention that a lot of things would need to be changed in order for that exhaust piping to fit properly (i.e. spare tire well; mounting points; etc...).Originally Posted by ctC230K

But the C32 amg muffler is attached to the same engine (and I'm sure the exhaust piping is close if not the same) as the 320 engine and I wouldn't be surprised if the 240 and/or 230K SS engine. In that case, it really doesn't make sense why a muffler from a C32 would be harmful to the engine.

not sure yet but i think remus is a quite exhaust..

You could always get the stock Sport Exhaust that appeared on the 2004 and earlier models, i.e. 2005, 2006

First off the last thing you want is back pressure of any kind. The purpose of any good exhaust is to provide a clean flow out the pipe. That's why Mercedes and others use mandrel bends in the tubing. Not kinks to slow down the flow of gases out the tailpipe. Originally Posted by ctC230K

Secondly, check out SuperSprint exhausts (made in Italy and are works of art) Go to: http://www.supersprint.com/homeuk.htm I've had mine now for almost two years and love it. Yes, it's louder than stock or AMG but very, very, deep and at highway speeds almost totally unnoticeable. Not cheap, bu the good stuff never is...
