Did you notice a horsepower/torque decrease in increasing the diameter of the pipe?

Is that straight pipe as well [both resinators deleted]?

I'm getting my 2x83 Race on Weds [should be] and trying to figure out to keep resinator or not. do straight pipe... or increase all around straight pipe to 2.5"

Rlee,

How much for the exhaust installation? Did you cut your bumper for the tips? Can any muffler shops do the cutting or do I have to go somewhere else?

Thanks

i actually uninstalled it today.

first time to install, it cost $40. cut off stock muffler and clamp this one on

this time, to uninstall, it cost $60. he had to take off the old clamp with a torch gun. than clamp old muffler back on.

miss my eisenmann

You should just keep your car and use the extra money to mod it even further ...

From your sig, your rear bumper seemed uncut but I thought we have to do the cutting in order for the tips to fit?

correct, i did not cut the bumper. i had my exhaust touching the bumper for 5K miles and it was fine, no melting. the reason i did this was to prevent scraping.

im getting rid of the car to move to the e46 world after a supercharger and some other mods, i will smoke c32s and c55s

its louder WITH the stock resonator? Odd, I thought it would be louder without it. And why does yours sound diff than blazinpin0i's?

only thing i can think of... he had his mic'd closer?

ideally what you have is the sound im going for. very raspy and throaty with a little bite of a whine to it.

how did you run your exhaust? with or without resonator? by the sounds of it, with you doing it yourself, sounds like you had em both in there.

Quote: Hello,

If money is not an issue, there are catback systems specifically designed for your car. I drive a 2001 C240 and didn't want to spend that much money on a part where i can use the money elsewhere (ie. coilovers, wheels, etc.). So in the spirit of being frugal, i went to my muffler guy who's done all my work during my rice modding days. He pretty much knew i needed a muffler that was at least 18" long and had a right side inlet w/a middle outlet. So he was able to fashion together a nice Flowmaster exhaust w/dual tips. I left the resonator in the middle intact because the droning sound was already prominent in the cabin. At idle, it sounds great.. nice low buzzing noise and when i punch it, it does have a nice throaty sound... not some cheap lawnmower sounding high pitched squeal. I combined that by changing the stock dual paper filters w/K+N's, and i'm happy w/the results.

Flowmaster exhaust + dual tips + labor = $190
K+N's = $100 (need 2 of 'em)

Happy modding!
This is encouraging.
Wat's the part/model number of the Flowmaster exhaust?
I am thinking of doing the samething as you did. Could you post pics and a sound clip of the exhaust.

I love my Kleeman. Felt the power gain right at low rpm. (usually you dont feel much with just muffler upgrade). Looks good. The Sound is deep and throaty may be a little too loud for some people I would highly recommend this exhaust.

Eisenmann Race Exhaust installed yesterday!!! Lots of pics
I bought an Eisenmann Race exhaust (thanks rlee02135!!) and got it installed yesterday, it sounds great but its sooooo loud! I left the stock resonator installed since it is loud enough as it is. Anything I could do to quiet it down a little bit? Also does anyone know how many miles it takes before it is broken in because I read that it gets quieter after it's broken in?

haha, fack. 5,000 miles long enough for it to be broken in? I guess it is already broken in. well its extremely loud, i'm a little nervous every time i see a cop now, its so loud i'm afraid i will get thrown in jail. of course last night theres a cop that had someone pulled over near my apartment building and this morning i go to dunkin donuts and at the street corner a cop had one lane blocked off for an accident and when i come out a dunkin a state trooper pulled in the parking lot as i was leaving. (i waited for him to get inside before i drove away) rofl.

so if u wanna know how mine sounds i found a video at www.angrybenz.com, that guy has the same engine and exaust as me except hes got a coupe, sounds exactly the same though.
http://angrybenz.com/filme/ab_exhaust_eisenrace256.wmv

and heres some pics NO ONE ever takes... the old exhaust after it's removed:

so dirty!

is it really loud? like, so loud you could be mistaken for a trailer truck on the highway?
