New Headrest Monitors Installed
Here is a sneak peak at the new headrest monitors I installed. These are from the current model ML class vehicle. These are actually mounted to the top of the seat frame and not touching the headrest. The screen articulates as well. Separate power, volume and contrast controls on each screen. Headphone jack and remote ir also. A factory MB DVD player has to be used with these monitors. The headrests have to be replaced as well as they are tapered in the rear to accomidate the monitors. The bulge you see in the seat is padding. I am still not done perfecting it.

Since I am using a OEM solution, the wireharness taps into the fuse box. Ignition on is not required on these monitors. They are CAN controlled somewhat. Atleast illumination and power is. if you have a 2005 and later C class and also have a IPOD interface, then you can get Mercedes AAS Switch (automatic audio selector)
(Power harness that directly replaces the ipod power harness)
Part no. B6-782-4228 This will allow you to use both IPOD and a aux input jack. These monitors tie into the aux in jack if you want whole car audio. Otherwise, the separate headphones.

I used to have those on my old A4 vert back in the day They are awesome and a fraction of the cost of Alpine etc
Sunman great work as usual! I haven't been on the boards much lately so I have a 'silly' question...what are those 'snouts' on the back of the drivers/passengers seats for??

I was thinking of using the ML headrests too. but I was not sure the upwrights would fit into the c class seats. So they do fit without modifying them? And if you use the Mercedes TV tuner shouldn't there be a wiring harness that works from the tuner to the headrest monitors? I was told from MBdoctor that they have one??? Plug and play kind of thing.

personally I don't like the look of the bulky headrests (both the ML and the SAVV - W210) in the C-class
sunil, why did you go for regular ortopedic seats instead of drive dynamic?

Steve,
The one reason I did go for the dynamic seats is because I did not find a suitable way of mounting the switches. after playing fiberglass for quite some time, that issue has been solved. Having a cluster that supports Dynamic seats is good too. I need to change all my air lines to a higher diameter and add a air tank. We're in business then!

sunil - the DD seat switches are just hardwired switches - shouldn't be too difficult to place those elsewhere (instead on in front of the seat where they become invissible as with the E-class)

I want the headrest and monitors, I just dont need the TV tuner and entertainment system. Im using the I Pod video and I have the TV tumer already. I just need two of the charcoal headrest and monitors. The price I was given was on the whole system you install.
