2002 C230 Coupe Black/Charcoal C5 C7 Auto
Will be getting an '02 C230k Coupe. Few questions guys...

I will be leasing a 02 C230k coupe w/ C5, C4, C1, and C7 pkg in about 2 weeks.

Q1: I like everything on C7 except the wheels. I have 5x112 17x8 Flik Lex rims w/ 235/40/17 Yokohama AVS from my 99.5 Audi A4 1.8t. I know the pattern fits but will the 235/40 tires rub? Also can dealer discount on wheels if I dont want the wheels but like the rest of C7 package?

Q2: I am not planning on serious mods on this car this time. But I am interested in the pulley kit or a chip. I am shooting for about 230hp/230ft/lbs. Which kit is right for these #s and how much $?

Q3: I am in Houston, TX and we have 3 dealers. Is anyone from Houston and have recommendation on which dealer to go to? Any performance shops here as well? Thank you all for your time.

I can't imagine the dealer taking off the rims. Your best bet is to take the car, and sell the rims yourself. Many people have the ugly 16" rims, and like the 17" ones. You'd be able to get 700-1000 for the set.

STFF for your mods - it's been discussed to death, brought back from the dead, and discussed to death again many times. It's mostly about how much money you want to spend, and whether you trust a non-MB tuner to make a pulley (but it's much, much cheaper). Warning: your warranty will take a hit for mods, so be careful!

How heavy are the fliks? The stock C7 rims with tires are about 44lbs., so if they're heavier, you'll be significantly reducing your performance right there, so be careful with your unsprung weight.

I'm in Houston and bought my 2002 C240 from MB Houston North back at the end of May. I was able to negotiate them down about $2000 from MSRP. MB Houston North has the best availability of any of the dealerships by far.

I doubt they would give you a fair credit if any for not taking the wheels.....

Will someone please explain to me how all these mods can be made on a leased vehicle? Or why you would even want to??? I would think the dealer would have a fit -- and at the same time its money down the drain for a vehicle that isn't yours....

I was told that the hub was 57.1mm on the VW/Audi wheels and 66mm on the c230 by Tirerack. This would mean that your wheels would not fit...

mod on a leased vehicle

nrl1,
On the Audi A4 forum there are plenty of ppl. that mod their vehicles (moderately of course) on a lesae. The easy thing abou A4 1.8t is that you just get a chip (or even easier chipped ECU) and instant 50hp and 70ft/lbs (basically a fancy boost controller). Now my previous A4 was fairly modified performance wise and cosmetic wise so when I get the c230k coupe I will do the pulley kit......drive for about 2-2.5 yrs and revert back to normal when I done.

Also on the subject of wheels....If you go to www.edgracing.com (where I got my wheels) if u do search by vehicle the same wheels w/ same specs come up for C Class and Audi A4. I believe the headlights are also the same (non-xenon) H7 bulbs. Please clarify the hub info for me in details. Thanks guys.

You've got that backwards. The 7 spokers are hideous and the 5/10 spokers are much better looking.

I agree actually.....

I like the 16" look better than 17" from factory. Not too big fan of MB wheels....too conservative.

I'd definitely trade you my 16's + cash for your 17's.

unfortunately....

my c230k coupe will be on lease so no selling wheels for me. On the bright side I will get to use my Flik Lex still and when lease is up the wheels are still ok.
