he will smoke you
he has more hp and torque than you
chipped a4 1.8T is just as fast as the non chipped 3.0 A4

Agreed. Just go to APR tuning's website. The chip is an instant 50hp 50tq on a 170hp engine. So, add that up, he's at 220hp. You honestly have no chance.

Even more lengths if your buddy was smart and got the turbo in manual .

if he has quetrro, you might have a very little chance
if it's just front wheel drive, then you will not have chance even if it's auto
because they use CVT tranny which accelerates just as fast as the manual tranny

Oh. I think you might havea chance...
If he has a manual and he does not know how to drive one.
I have a passat with the same engine and same power. Its actually my whifes car. Well let me tell you that the torque on these cars is just superb.
It launches so nicely and I think it actually might be a little more powerfull than what factory specs say. VW/Audi do that very often. I know that the new GTI is supose to have 202 crank HP, but it actualy makes close to 200 at the wheels, stock.
Good luck!!!

I'm going to try to help you here.

Here are some things that you can do that will help you.

Insure your tires are fully inflated.
Dump the spare and any misc. weight adding things in your car.
Run that race with barely a gallon of gas.
Make sure he has a FULL tank
You can try taking out the air filter for just the fun run (may be worth 1-5 hp)

If your buddy really starts talking smack, find an 02 Pullied Coupe to run with him.

No, the reason it has such radical gains is because the stock turbo is set very conservatively. As for a supercharger, it cannot be boosted as much and a lot more is need to be done to raise the psi. As for a turbo, all you need is a chip to boost the psi and if you want, some larger injectors to help it flow better.

No aftermaket mods, that would cost under 10000-15000$ all together, would give you that 50 hp that we would all love.
Not on a mercedes that is not AMG at list.

I honestly still don't think there is any chance. My friend had a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T and I had a V6 Mustang (I know) but it was "heavily" modified, full bolt-ons, a cam. Anyway, he was at 220hp 240tq crank at race time. I was 200rwhp 215rwtq at race time and I think his car was only 100lbs lighter. From a stand still, he pulled much quicker and I wouldn't start reeling in until 70-80mph and that's only because of the torque advantage I had. Without that high end torque, I really see no way a C-class will ever compare to a chipped A4, unless you have a Kleeman supercharger.

agree
but I believe you are only talking about C230 and 240.
C280, 320 and 350 will beat chipped A4 1.8T

yah
g35 is pretty quick, it was in one of my consideration as well.
But the new model is coming out at the end of the car with over 300hp
and 0-60 in like 5.2 seconds.
it also looks much better than the current model.

I bought my car for looks and not speed so I think you are going to eat the A4's dust. I didconsider it at the time of my purchase but that tiny litte sport badge & 5 spoke alloys won me over. Then I saw that SS oval exhaust! Out cam my check book!

I think a 1.8T chipped can take the 320. The 3.0 A4 and 320 are similar performance and numbers but a chipped 1.8T can take the 3.0 A4.

The 280 would definitely be a close match, depending on the driver and if it were a manual tranny on the A4. 350 definitely would blow the chipped A4 away. Now if it were the 2.0T chipped against the 350, I'd like to see that. 2.0T stock is 200hp/207tq but chipped is ~250hp/~294tq.

Hence why I bought a LUXURY sedan, not a sporty fast car. I still don't understand why people attempt to push the C-class cars with performance. For the money, it just doesn't make sense. Oh well, good luck I guess on the race.
