It's imbedded in the glass of the back window and doesn't move, I'm not sure what the noise your hearing is.

it's not the antenna. do you hav power seats? if so that maybe where it's coming from. the mtors/servos for the seats. my car has that same kind of noise, but i ignore it since it doesnt sound serious.

I don't think that's normal either.

It's most likely your climate system closing all outside air vents.

I think you're talking about the pump which returns the coolant to the reservoir when you shut off the engine. My Passat had the same type of system. Tell you the truth, I don't think I've actually watched this on my C240, but I'm pretty sure it's the same thing. Lasts for about 4-5 seconds when you shut off the car. Also, if you engage "REST" mode after you shut the car off, you'll hear the same pump until you turn off "REST".

This sounds like a possibility, maybe the engine redesign is such that the noise is much louder on the '03 Coupe motors than the '02 or V6 motors.

My '02 coupe makes the noise as described above. Quite noticable. I assumed it was the HVAC opening the recirc flap to 50% as noted my Mbtech208 a while back.

woohoo, just noticed the memeber status below my name. thats going to be easy to remember sept 11....

well, everyone should have this noise if you hear it in the 02 model also, so its either the air vents closing or the pump that returns the coolant... or some unexplained Phenomena

Ahhh...

I pretty much never use the recirc function, that explains why I don't hear the noise on my '02.

As always, a great forum for almost any question.

Cheers, BT

It's the air system on both sides of the car opening... i once had my car apart installing my system and when you turn the power on/off they open/close.... i forget the tech name but they are the circular spinning fans, smaller version of a home air system
