Just wanted to say hello to all. This is my first post, of many, I am sure.

I just ordered a 2007 C230 with the following options:
Diamond Black Metallic Paint
7sp Automatic
Sunroof Pkg
Lighting Pkg
Heated Seats
Pwr Driver's seat and steering column
Ipod integration

My dealer changed the options on one they already had in the system, so my car should be delivered the end of February. I hate the wait, but couldn't find the exact car I wanted so I ordered it. I have been lurking here for the last few months, reading lots of posts, and I already have mod fever, and I don't even have a car yet

The only mods I have planned for right away, are debadging, tinted windows, smoked markers or euro impact strips, and illuminated door sills.

I am coming from (and selling), a highly modified Nissan Sentra that is 16 years old, so I am just going to enjoy a quiet, new ride for a while. I drive 100 miles a day round trip, so I was looking for something comfortable, but fun to drive at the same time. The C230 hooked me in the first time I layed eyes on it.

Eventually I am going to try the car PC mod, as well as lowered suspension. I will probably keep the stock wheels, but may chrome them at some point. And of course once some go fast goodies start becoming available for the new engine, I will definitely jump on those.

One of the other reasons I chose the car was the option to run Ethanol.

Congrats! Is this your first Mercedes? Either way, enjoy your car.

I feel the 2007 C-Class comes so well equipped, it's hard to find mods to make it look better externally. You've got the dual exhaust tips, the AMG sport kit, the newer, and I think, better looking wheels and great interior improvements, the black wood is great. But if you are looking for mods, I'd say get performance mods (if you are financing/not leasing). Nothing crazy, just small things that can enhance the performance a little.

Tee_Tz, yes this is my first Mercedes!

I agree the 2007 has subtle touches that make it stand out in the crowd. That is what sold me on it. If the car had ~50-75 more horsepower, it would be perfect in my eyes, and I think dealers would have a hard time keeping them on the lot. Though, it has more then enough power to get you in trouble with law enforcement

Now that you mention it -- actually I saw one yesterday at the dealership that had 67 more horsepower! But for some reason the numbers on the back said "C350"

Just jokes, but yeah, I mean the C230 you really get what you pay for, which is quality. Quality that few manufactures offer - actually really Audi and BMW. It's a great car all around, sure it could use more horsepower, but all the elegance makes up for it. Did you even consider the BMW 325 or was it hands down the C230?

Also, you said you are tinting the windows -- doesn't it already have the blue tint? Or I guess you just want it a little darker.

Yes, I concidered quite a few other cars and the BMW was at the top of the list. I just can't stand the look of the new ones. Chris Bangle has pretty much ruined BMW for me. So yes, it was hands down the C230.

As far as the windows, the blue tint is very light, and I wanted the windows a touch darker. I am going with the legal tint in WA of 35% all around.

Well, add Full Leather to my list of options and take another $1500 out of my wallet - My wife demanded the leather, so there you have it

Yes Chris Bangle has taken a very aggressive turn with BMW. The interior looks very enlarged, over sized, and no offense, but 'Americanized'. It's not the conservative German interior anymore, seems more like following German heritage than still being fully German. Anyway, that being said, it's still a wonderful cabin to be in, just hard to make something better than perfect (which it practically was).

BUT, the new 335 is deadly. And I'm not just talking about the coupe, which seemed to spark up the C-Class AMG section, but even the Sedan -- 300HP, and 300 Torque!, pulls to 60MPH in 5.4 seconds, wow, that thing is pretty sweat. I mean, the C350 gives 268HP, 258 Torque to accelerate to 60MHP in 6.1 seconds, which is considerably slower; but it's not slow. Now of course you probably would have gone for the 328i, which bangs out 238HP to the C230's 201HP, and accelerates to 60MPH in 6.3 seconds, which is competitive to the C350 -- (the C230 is 8.0 seconds). So I say time and time again, if speed is your thing - go for the BMW, if luxury and styling are important to you - then go for the Benz. I'm sure the W204's will become much more competitive to the new BMW's, but honestly, a lot of people ask me which do I like better -- the ZHP or the C320, and I say, well I like them both, but to me they are different cars altogether.

Congrats on the new rides everybody. This is my first Benz and I love it. Decided to sell my other car so I can drive the Benz all of the time.

One thing "Johnand" said was that he wanted to chrome the OEM wheels. I love those wheels too and it was something I was wondering about doing. I recall another individual either on this forum or the other forum who chromed his 06 OEM's and they looked good. Does anybody know how much this would cost to do? I am in Canada though but even American pricing is ok.

Also, I love the factory blue tinted glass but I have always had my windows tinted. I think I am going to do limo 5% in the back and a very light one up front considering it is illegal. Those are the only mods I want to do because I like the look of the car already. Good luck with your new cars and modding.

I got a quote of $600 from a local plater, to chrome the OEM wheels. You can also buy the fully chrome OEM center caps from the dealer for about $20 each. There is also the chrome wheel exchange program, that I just might do instead of the local plater: http://www.capitalwheels.com/store/c...s.php?pageid=6 For $550, they will send you a set of the same OEM wheels you have, chrome plated. You put them on your car, and send your wheels back to them.

agree
but you don't compare 328 to c230
it should be compared to c280 instead.
and carandriver claims c350 goes from 0-60 in 5.7second
but yet, it's not gonna be faster than 335 for sure.
but one more thing, when they test bimmers, they usually test the manual tranny, where mercedes are ususally tested with auto tranny.

bottomline is, if you want more performance, then go with bimmers, but if you want a more lux ride, then mercedes

Before you go tinting your glass, search the forum for problems people have encountered. When wetting the glass to aply the film, be careful not to let water drip down the rear glass & into the antenna amplifier - If this happens you'll be up &*($ Creek without a paddle.

Normally I would. I don't really care for automatics, since I do all my own work on my cars. Though, on this car, I didn't even consider the manual. Guess I am getting old

I have read those threads. That is why I am taking it too a place I trust, as they have done my last 3 cars, and know the do's and dont's for tinting the Benz.

hknladdr,

Is it possible for you to somehow get pictures of what those rims would look like? I have thought of doing that to my OEM's instead of buying other ones. I like the 07's but I want something a little more blingy. Thanks!

I read that the last W203 rolled off the assembly line on Thursday the 14th, it was a silver C230. They have a picture and article on german car fans. Is that possible? If so yours must have been one of the very last made.http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm...eries-produced

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up. I will call my dealer and see if I can add that to my order. Can I ask how much they charged you for that option?
