Can someone help me out and take a pic of the ground clearance under their w203 that is lowered? Please post what type of setup you have as well..


I'm contemplating whether or not to get the lowering kit, because I make trips to indiana regularly and have to drive on 75, 65, and 24... These roads are O.K., i traveled them before with my monte carlo that was lowered and it was alright, but the mercedes is something I dont want to play guessing games with.


Please help me!

ugh... there is an after market wheel/suspension thread... plenty of pictures and details of what tires/wheels/suspension they are using ..... and you can see the ride height just fine.

Your 240 has more ground clearance than some SUV's. Not dropping it would be a crime.

Get some OEM 2004.5+ sport springs. I think Anthuny85 is still selling his. I put a set on mine and i'm happy with the clearance. Check the aftermarket wheel thread for pics.

thank you very much, those angle shots are exactly what i wanted to see. There is quite a bit of clearance.. Thats got to be my next mod, coil overs and springs, or just coil overs? Do i need both? I'm retarded

Coilovers come with everything, Shocks and springs, and are height adjustable, and some coilovers are height and ride adjustable

Coilovers = springs and shocks that are ride height adjustable, so you can dial in the exact height you like.

sweet it already looks so close in the rear, i have 265 width... If i lower it i think it will rub the fender... What about AMG springs? Is that any lower? I figured oem would be better

AMG springs will not lower your car if they're from a C32 because they had just as bad a ride height as your C240. C55 springs might lower it some, but maybe not since your front end is lighter with the v6 240 engine compared to the v8 C55 engine. Needless to say, springs alone are usually not a good way to lower a car because the OEM shocks were not meant to handle the stiffer spring rates and reduced travel, so they will wear out faster. You're much better off buying a set of coilovers or a set of matched springs and shocks.

EDIT: Rubbing will depend on your specific wheel setup. There are many lowered W203's with no rubbing on 265 width tires, but others who rub with thinner tires because the offset and/or with of their wheels is not ideal.

wow that is sweet do you scrape often? I like your center caps. I'm guessing they aren't mercedes wheels, but what size cap worked? I'd like to get one similar instead of the ugly adr aluminized non chrome center cap

Hey I noticed you have 2 front number plates, can I ask why? Also is it true that in the US you dont need a front plate?

Certain States you have have a front plate.. the second plate is just for style

And the center caps i purchase from MB parts department i don't know what size they are but they fit on my aftermarket wheel


And no my car doesn't touch the Ground that day i JACKED UP the rear of the car lol so it looked like am sitting low
