Warranty is up in 2 months... what should I do.
- Hood is open warning... and alarm would always go off.
- Xenon headlamps have both already been replaced twice (not just the bulb... the entire housing).
I am not looking forward to these problems out of warranty.
Considering a '07 BMW x3 (more expensive I know).
1) pray
2) change car
consider the mechanic crappyness, i wouldn't give trust to mercedes parts anymore. If they light up, find ur local auto shop that do mercedes, have them reset the light to see if they going to turn off or not. Thus that's what the dealerships are doing anyways, but not gonna charge you a fortune. Try do as much repair out of dealership as possible, that should save you tons of dollars. As for ur headlight, if they burn again, go for aftermarket ballast/bulb, they are cheaper, more reliable (warranty), and probably better IMO.
Mercedes part if u ask me, they are crap. got enough of "crap" from dealership. If i didn't mod my car i'd definiately think the 2nd option
Afterall it's talking about Luck, you get ur car and if it's problem free, you should be glad (though my previous car VW Golf 1.8t was problem free, i should've kept it, nice car). That's why Euro car can't hold up good value in used car market, whereas Japanese car can still sell for good price.
For example Toyota Tercel, yes it's low value car, but my friend's uncle drove it for 15 years, problem free. I've heard tons of horror stories about fixing euro cars and cost them fortune, engine problems, light on, problem here and there, sooner or later u'll want to sell ur car to get rid of "problem". Not saying i dislike euro car, but this is an issue that they seriously have to resolve. If you are telling me Mercedes/BMW/VW are doing this because they have technology and whereas Japanese car doesn't, I agree 50%. But if you look at Z350, Lexus IS250/350, look at their reliability and technology, it's there, but problem free.

Stock warranty is 4 years or 50K miles....
If for some reason it is up, consider an aftermarket warranty.
Likely there are bugs yet to be worked out...

Everyone should take cues on how to build high quality, reliable cars from Porsche.
But then again, if they did, Porsche wouldn't be peerless, and untouchable as they are today....

Doesn't reflect all German car owners, just some of them will go this route.
