have a friend rev the engine while your listening out of the car. You might have an exhaust leak? its not common for the mileage but we've all heard of enigines going bad at 8,000 miles too. so who knows.

Yes, I had this problem.
Start the engine when cold, put your hand down near where the exhaust bolts to the manifold, or manifolds.
Feeling a breeze? As in exhaust leak? Check around find out where it's leaking.
Check the bolts where the exhaust attaches to the manifold, and check the nuts on the manifold.
Mine were all loose, tightened them and solved the problem, and no more exhaust in the cab...and yes, much quieter.
Alway look for the simple things before panicking.
Cars rattle themselves loose a bit at times.

The manifold is located on the left hand side of the engine bay (passenger)right next to the big silver supercharger. The manifold bolts are going to be bolted to the head of the engine. As in the cylinder head bolted ontop of the engine. Just be on the passangerside of the engine bay, look down and towards the engine. You will see that the super charger is blocking like a little less than half of the view of the manifold. The manifold looks long and ugly and you will see a pipe go down and disapear under the car in the engine bay. Carfull when checking the minifold after it has been started as it will get hot very quick. You might have little over 3 minutes untill the temps get hotter. only try this when just starting the car after sitting over night. As you progress through the checking of the bolts and what not then start going down the exaust pipe line untill you find the leak. Also I am not really sure if there is a valve that closes the the exaust stream for quicker engine temps in the mouring because my car sounds horribly loud in the mouring like the exaust is plugged, then gets quite after a while. Also no smell of exaust in cabin. But that my problem. Oh yeah Hello fellow MB owners, how are you all doing this nice rainy night. I know my post is long but I will introduce my self in another thread.

Thanks a lot...I do only get this loudness and vibration at startup's...and I guess I have been getting these symptoms lately because of the semi-cold weather...I'm guessing something to do with the exhaust is altered at cold startup...as I notice too that eventually (within 5 minutes) the vibration and extra sound goes away...difference is...even with windows closed I still do get the gasoline smell in the cabin...but it might be because I always run my fan (at the lwoest possible speed; since my windows always fog up ).
