Anyone ever use the PAC Audio SWI-CAN and SWI-X or other?

I have seen many posts about the CARPI131 and what it can do but as I have found out it is hard to come by. I have checked a few overseas sources and they are either out or do not reply. I emailed Pioneer US and they referred me to www.pac-audio.com where they have a SWI-CAN that when combined with the SWI-X, SWI-PS, SWI-ECL or SWI-JACK. You can use your Steering wheel controls. I have found them on ebay and they go for about $100 shipped for both the SWI-CAN and the SWI-PS (I have Pioneer so I am running the SWI-PS). So I am wondering if anyone has tried it or is running it?

P.S If anyone also knows of a good place to order the CARPI131 then let me know... Most of the google ones and over seas ebay are out or do not respond, Some are just too hard to order on because I only read and write english...

Yup, I've seen this installed in a 330Ci used with an Eclipse AVN54XX ... works flawlessly. Hidden to boot.

Look at the steering wheel control thread. Those PAC/SWIs do NOT work with W203. Just buy the damn pioneer adapter on ebay like everyone else does.

But that means you have to get the pioneer unit =(. Unless I'm mistaken?

No, there are several solutions available for different head unit manufacturers. The unit MUST specifically support the W203. Also remember there is the d2b W203 and MOST W203. Good luck!

Maybe if you would read my post you might find something interesting about the DAMN pioneer adapter...

Illiteracy affects 1 out of 10 americans... I saw nothing about the SWI on those threads... unless there is another one...

So tell me why would Pioneer tell me to get one from PAC-Audio if it did not work?

There was nothing interesting about the pioneer adapter in your post.

The SWI-CAN 1.4.12a is something that I have never seen before. It was not on their website when I was piecing together my unit in 06. It looks like it came out late February 07. That sure looks like it will do the trick.

Ah, he's out? I know of a handful of people that got them from him without incident. Well it looks like you found a new solution. I'm curious to see what shows up on your cluster with that unit. Try it out.

The telephone buttons do not integrate with the pioneer bluetooth adapter.

nothing interesting there except that it does not work with the bluetooth adapter.. again read what I SAID, I said I wonder if it works with the integrated phone in the car. you know the one in the console that usually will only work with the V60, but now they make a BT plug that goes where the V60 used to go...

You completely replace that system when switching to an after market head.

hmmm. thanks for all your input JGSX.. I may try to wire something up to tap them together. I am a MECP Advanced 12v installer and I want to try this... I did get a Pioneer adapter last night from ADN-Tunning.com they are French (FTF) but hey beggars cannot be choosers. I also went ahead and ordered the SWI-CAN and the SWI-PS to see what they do... I am going to mold a FG box for the rear so I can put in my Eclipse Ti 12" and MacIntosh Amps for the rest.. it will be a work in progress.. just really wanted to know if someone has done this to cover some ground work... The tutorials here have been excellent to cover some of it so far... GJ!

JGSX - take no offense to my sense of humor,

I used to have a bluetooth phone interface with my factory COMMAND. It interfaced with the fiber optic audio system. The fiber is completely bypassed when you install the AVIC.

You do NOT want the factory phone integration. The audio quality is poor on the prefacelift W203s. I would say that it is a D/D+ while in motion. Upgrading to the Pioneer bluetooth kit was one of my main motivating factors when switching. I would say that the Pioneer's bluetooth audio quality is B+.

good thanks JGSX... That actually has answered a question I asked when I first signed up... I had a Panasonic with BT and the audio was not as good as the MBZ at the dealership with integrated phone... guy showed me how it worked and it was better then the Panasonic I had... but it was all I had to compare it to... the Panasonic sucked it had way to much feedback... but now it is good to know I will not have to worry about the Pioneer

Well there is still a small echo issue with the Pioneer if you have the audio volume very high. It is still way better than the OEM integration kit though.

Don't forget you need a VSS signal if you want to have 3D maps on your Pioneer. The CARP13x adapter provided that signal. I doubt the other one will. You can still tap the VSS signal elsewhere, but it is pretty difficult.
