CL203 Coupe Pano-roof Maintenance - MB lube Grease Part #s, gears, & fixes
Jim
On my way to work tonight, I decided to open my pano roof in my coupe and I heard this loud crack sound. Now it wont close all the way and only opens about 5 inches. Has anyone had this problem with an '03 model? I think it might have came off track, but not sure. Looks like ill be making a trip to the dealer for my first problem after 2 years of ownership. The thing is that I rarely use the thing, so for it to just stop working all of a sudden is very odd. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I was not expecting resolving the problem at that moment, but I went directly to the paint section and talked to the guy responsable of that section, luckely I knew him from other time I was there. He called some guy that brougth some lubrification spray from MB and he was spraying to some of the pano parts till he find the problematic point (pic 1 and 2) and he also told me that part in pic 3 some times also need some lubrification.
And finally some silicon lube on the sliding part of the deflector (pic 4)
Not all the noises where eliminated (when the chassis flex it could make some noises, but not the same, but to solve this only dismantling all the roof and lubrificating all the parts and mount with the correct torq numbers everything up again.
Hope this could help for some future questions
If I get some noise when its closed, I usually just tap the button slightly, it relieves a little pressure on the roof(roof is still very much closed and air/water tight), and the noise goes away completely. The motor is probably pulling the glass in to tight, collapsing the seal gasket and creating a situation in which other components can vibrate against the roof panel.
Do you know if this is doing anything to the actual roof? Or is it normal?
The coupe with the pano roof will "work" more when the car is moving and the sound you here might be the glas rubbing in the seals. Either use a lot of grease on the seal where the glas is sitting on when closed or just tip the switch for the roof a bit - works for me every time ....
Enjoy your "new" car - I do since 06/2002 and counting
Oh your in good ol' Detroit! I was there for Superbowl, interesting town, very quiet acutally. Well, I was staying in Madison Heights...very very quiet town. But the mall out there is teriffic! Somerset, I think it was called. LOVE that mall, wish I could have one here...
Sorry to get off topic! haha...
I will try to pop it a little bit and see if that helps.
