Panoramic Roof not working

I recently replaced the battery on my wifes 2002 c230k and now the panoramic shade doesn't work. The window itself works ok, but now the shade will not close (and the passenger window is inop). Anything I can check before dealing with the aftermarket warranty (and its deductable)? Thanks.

Do a resynch on both windows and the sunroof. Basically, after it's closed, hold the switch down for about 5 seconds, and it will resynch. That should solve your problems. (this is in the manual, btw)

Thanks. I got the shade to work after re-synching, I will try the windows again tomorrow.

Unhappy Pano Roof Problem

Pano Roof Problem
On my way to work tonight, I decided to open my pano roof in my coupe and I heard this loud crack sound. Now it wont close all the way and only opens about 5 inches. Has anyone had this problem with an '03 model? I think it might have came off track, but not sure. Looks like ill be making a trip to the dealer for my first problem after 2 years of ownership. The thing is that I rarely use the thing, so for it to just stop working all of a sudden is very odd. Any input is greatly appreciated.

After long periods without use, mine would make the same noise (BANG), but never had the failure to close or open you are experiencing. Enjoy the dealership

I looked at it again this morning in the daytime and the passengers side seals all the way down, but the drivers side closes, but there is a small gap and the small black rubber piece does not go all the way down completely. I think the drivers side came off track, but i could be wrong.
I just made an appointment for tomorrow morning. Hopefully if wont be too difficult to fix. Im also getting my new key programmed since ill be there.

pano roof question

Yesturday i had the top back, and the sun was hitting the front flap in just away i could see into it.

Does anyone know what is in there? Is it an antanae or solor panal or ???. I always thought it was just a solid plastic peice.

The front deflector (ie the piece that pops up) is a piece of glass. Pretty sure there isn't anything in there, otherwise all the panorama-less coupes out there lose out.

yeah i know what your talking about. it looks like its a solar panel, but i dont think it is. the pano roofs on the W211 have the solar panels. i think its like a fibre reinforcement.

Pano-roof noises elimination

Today I went to my dealer to see if he could eliminate some noises in my pano-roof at the moment (I have the experience by other times that all the pano-roof is dismantled) because I had some anoing noises sounding like some mouse :p all the time, even touching the roof glass it made that sound!!!

I was not expecting resolving the problem at that moment, but I went directly to the paint section and talked to the guy responsable of that section, luckely I knew him from other time I was there. He called some guy that brougth some lubrification spray from MB and he was spraying to some of the pano parts till he find the problematic point (pic 1 and 2) and he also told me that part in pic 3 some times also need some lubrification.
And finally some silicon lube on the sliding part of the deflector (pic 4)

Not all the noises where eliminated (when the chassis flex it could make some noises, but not the same, but to solve this only dismantling all the roof and lubrificating all the parts and mount with the correct torq numbers everything up again.

Hope this could help for some future questions

The areas he lubed are all related to noises while the roof is transitioning from closed to open, or areas inbetween. The other noises that the roof is famous for, can't be lubed away.

If I get some noise when its closed, I usually just tap the button slightly, it relieves a little pressure on the roof(roof is still very much closed and air/water tight), and the noise goes away completely. The motor is probably pulling the glass in to tight, collapsing the seal gasket and creating a situation in which other components can vibrate against the roof panel.

Exclamation Pano-roof Creaks - Coupe

Ok, so anyone live in the freezing cold where overnight it gets really cold? I do, and when my car freezes over, I dont have a lot of time to sit and wait for it to defrost, and when I pull out of the driveway, I hear weird loud creaks coming from the panaramic sunroof, almost like its breaking.

Do you know if this is doing anything to the actual roof? Or is it normal?

Arrow It's normal ...

The sound is pretty much normal, especially when you have ice on the roof. Mine even makes creaking noises on a nice and warm day unless I lift it a little (it is still closed enough for keeping the rain out).

The coupe with the pano roof will "work" more when the car is moving and the sound you here might be the glas rubbing in the seals. Either use a lot of grease on the seal where the glas is sitting on when closed or just tip the switch for the roof a bit - works for me every time ....

Enjoy your "new" car - I do since 06/2002 and counting

Thanks for the reply!

Oh your in good ol' Detroit! I was there for Superbowl, interesting town, very quiet acutally. Well, I was staying in Madison Heights...very very quiet town. But the mall out there is teriffic! Somerset, I think it was called. LOVE that mall, wish I could have one here...

Sorry to get off topic! haha...

I will try to pop it a little bit and see if that helps.

Tapping the switch very lightly is the best way to make it go away. It frees the roof from the seal enough to prevent the noise entirely.
