Any chance they might have SLK as a loaner?

I may have seen you the other day on Oakland Mills Rd around 6. Bad news. Herb Gordon (Silver Spring AutoPark) uses Enterprise for loaners. No Benzes. Right after I got my car it spent a week in the shop. I think I had a Dodge Status or something like. I was very glad to get mine back. No problems since. Knock on wood.

Anyway, this morning the noise was back
I checked out the rubber seal again last night and found that the spray lube I had applied the day before had completely dried up.

This time I used a silicone rubber "protectant" on the seal. While I was doing this I noticed the underside of the moveable panel was extremely dirty in the area where it contacts the seal. I wiped it all down and rattle is completely gone.

I guess you did see me, because I take Oakland Mills Rd a lot.
How come I didn't see your car then? When I drive I do look out
for other coupes....it became habit of mine.

Anyways...
Hmmm.....so Herb Gordon doesn't have benz loaner....that sucks
Maybe I should cancel my appointment and reschedule at EuroMotors.

That is what I thought of doing, putting silicone rubber or similar protectant. But I decided to wait until my service date. And if
they don't fix it correctly, then I'll follow your foot steps. Thanks

Harpax I was at the light at Snowden west bound on OM. You were eastbound about 6ish. I was in the right lane next to a truck. I saw you too late to honk.

Sunroof Noises - Fixed

My C230K with 7,600 miles has had this fixed twice.
Around 5K miles it started making a nasty creaking noise from the right front of the sunroof. I took it back to Herb Gordon where I bought the car from and they fixed the creaking but it now had a rubbing/squeaking noise coming from the rear of the sunroof. Using Amour-All or Vaseline on the rubber seal would stop the squeaking for a couple of weeks.
After a couple of months, the creaking from the front of the sunroof returned with a vengeance. This time I tried American Service Center's new outlet in Alexandria, VA. They had the car for 3 days. They replaced the guide rails (had to remove the sunroof to do it) but their quality control person decided that it was still making noises so they replaced the rails again with another new set. Anyway the sunroof has been perfectly quiet since then (almost 2 months).

Console Switch for Panorama Roof

Went to open the sun shade but noticed the one-time-back didn't work, then I was unable to open the glass at all. Got out and used the remote open with the key and it opened fine. I had heard there may be a way to reset the switch without going to the dealer, does anyone know anything about this?

Resynch the sunroof as in owner's manual. Make sure you push the button hard enough.

Thanks! If anyone's roof fails to open someday, remember that there are instructions on how to re-sync it in the owner's manual.
I believe there is a safety mechanism that will put the switch into this error state, like if kids are playing with it or if it attempts to shut with something in it (kids!).

One-Time close button not working?

Hi Guys,
My Panorama switch works just fine for opening in the "auto" mode (opens to the preselected position pushing the button hard towards the back); however, closing the roof will not work in the auto mode (need to keep switch pressed for it to fully close). Is this normal?
Haven't tried to re-calibrate it, but sounds weird that it works fine in one direction and not the other!! Additionally you can 'feel' that the switch has like two stages or positions going towards the back; not the case going forward.

Thanks,
Gianluca/.

Yes, and not only that, you can tell by pressing the switch that it doesn't have the "second" position for the auto close!

Instead of posting the obvious, I'll be nice. After unlocking the car, press unlock again (have to be within about 5-10 ft), and hold it down. The windows will come down, and the sunroof will tilt up. Press and hold again to fully open sunroof. To close stuff, do same thing with lock button.

Really, how can you drive a car without studying the manual in the first week of ownership?

It's something, isn't it? I mean, come on, you buy a $30K car and don't want to know how to work it and take care of it?

well, i took the car in a couple of weeks ago to get the rear roller shade fixed but it wasn't a 1/2 hour job as they thought - instead, it would be 6 hours... would i like to reshedule so i could get a loaner car (they ran out). ok.

took it back yesterday and they worked on it all day today. went to pick it up and he said it would never happen again. naturally, i need to test it.

1st thing i notice is that the shade fabric is running over (topside) the end bar rather than the bottom side (under and then around). also, they greased it and i can see the tracks, and the grease, and the fingermarks... hmmmm...

anyway, i get the service consultant and he gets the head technician and we discuss it... they're going to keep it another day, and try to fix it again, and of course, CLEAN it up.

i had a c320 wagon yesterday, got a bordeaux red c230k today (non-c7 so the shifter feels different )

before i left, the head technician told me that the roller shade had been slightly redesigned in 10/2001 (mine is from 8/2001) so that some of the roller shade issues were corrected.

My car was built in the first decade of October. I hope I got the redesigned shade.

If they haven't broken yet, you probably got the redesigned ones.

But, don't count your chickens...

They fixed mine yesterday and said everything is fine. Guess not. Now the rear opens only halfway. They also damaged one of the rims and fingermarks all over the interior. I thought my VW dealer is bad.
