I actually think that the "Guide" that follows the rail is broken... i can close the sunroof to the tilt position but any further than that and the passenger side goes down and the driver side stays up... i should be able to get a picture in a few minutes posted... but im not sure how much this is going to help....

its starting to be a huge hassle... I really love the way my car handles and the performance of it... the engine just has this beautiful sound and plenty of power for a daily driver but im really starting to see a trend of cheap everything else that is going to stop me from buying a mercedes again... this is my first mercedes and while i understand its their lowest end... it should still have quality... there is simply no reason to be broken at this early in its life... sure its at its 5th year mark... but it only has 35k miles on it... and it broke 8k ago.... sooo aggravated right now at this car...

ah, I see. A couple people on this forum had the same problem...and I think most of them got it solved through warranty. If not, maybe you can just rant at the Sales Associate for a good half hour and get something worked out. I agree with you all the way on the whole quality of MB's now. Not the way they used to be...and I know there's a number of reasons for that...

i would really <3 some part numbers and approximated prices... and if possible a few hints and tips at sun roof disassembly :-). While I am a mechanic and could possibly get it apart and back together with as few broken parts as possible... its still nice to get experienced feedback from people who have already broken those parts

Fuse number 9????
Where is the fuse box at the trunk?
Could be the Euro cars the same as US??

I have the same problem, but the roof opens all the way back and close, nothing more!!!

How to reset the roof? (I have a sedan owners manual and I tried it as discrebed but no luck, maybe in the coupe is diferent!? )

I tryed the "fuse n.9" and no luck, I checked the fuse map on the fuse box on the driver side, and it seams the fuse 9 on the boot its for more equipment like sun roof, rain sensor, auto-diming mirror...

More strange is that, the roof works, but only to open all the way back and close, but no more functions!!!
Could be the operation stwich since the motor is working!!

Any info how to reset the roof? I searched but no info on that, only to check owners manual, and I don't have the coupe one...

Please help!

All fine now!
Just a reset and worked fine.

I will post how to:

first open all the way back, keep pushing the button for 3 sec,
than, close the roof
an now open the roof up and keep pushing for another 3 sec,
and thats it, close it and test it if is working, if not, do it again.

I called the dealer and had them fax over a print out of the sun roof. It was an exploded view of the different parts and has the numbers next to them.

CL203 Pano-roof Maintenance - MB lube Grease Part #s, gears, & fixes

For those with sunroofs, the Mercedes part #s are

MB Special Lubricant - For lubricating outer guide rail of panorama roof
001 989 50 51

MB Lubrication Paste - For cleaning outer/inner channel, shift gate, pivot arm of wind deflector of top sliding roof (panorama roof)
001 989 46 51

Apparently, this is also known as Klueber Polylub GLY 801 (see page 14 of this Maybach document http://www.mercedestechstore.com/pdf...2006-06-03.pdf ). I believe they're a Germain company.

I found the part #s here: http://www.billsden.org/fileadmin/me...ducts_2005.pdf
There are part #s for many other MB spec oils, filters, lubricants, greases, etc.

For sunroof maintenance, regularly clean the rubber seal surrounding the roof that comes into contact with the glass panel. Clean the underside of the glass panel as well, particularly where it contacts the rubber seal. "Rubber Care Gel Stick" from Wurth is supposed to be good to apply to the rubber seal once its clean. As for the aforementioned lubricants, I'm not sure really what the difference is as I've yet to procure either.

Any others want to chime in on keeping their malfunction-prone panoroma sunroofs operating for years to come?

That is a nice way to put it! Have any of you heard of the sunroof being intermittent? Mine wouldn't work all winter and then recently it started working were it would open about 3 inches at a time, and now it works perfect. I am wondering if it is a bad switch?

I have no idea. I presume the paste is for the flat aluminum part of the channel while the lubricant is more of a liquid and goes into the grooves of the sliding mechanisms.
Not really sure though.

I used both the lube on the tracks and the Wurth stick recently. Both worked well.

Of course, my car should be finished today at the dealer, for about $950 or so. Anyone want to guess what was the principle component of that bill is?

Note to self: never buy the first year of any car or new component of said car.

I can't beleive you said that. Blasphemy. Would you have rather had the M271 engine?!

I'll keep the M111. Even though I sealed my Sunroof shut.

Pano-roof problems, and yes i searched.

before i get a thousand people telling me to search the site let me say that i did.

My sunroof wont close, it keeps make a terrible loud noise, like a jackhammer, when i try to get it down. It goes backwards to some extent but when i use the one touch it wont go all the way back.

From the search that i did im pretty sure that what i need is some kind of cable guide or something. the part is a few dollars and takes half an hour to install but nowhere were the steps to the installaiton included. If anyone has done this please, please, please post the steps. It's raining and even though nothing gets into my car its still brings me anxiety.

Thanks in advance.

It says in the manual that i need to synchronize after i close it manually but doesnt say exactly how to manually close it. if i just need to push it myself then that doesnt work because my drivers side wont go down even when i put a lot of weight behind it. the passenger side goes down but i dont keep it that way because not only do i look like a lopsided idiot i dont see how that could be good for the roof.

go to pg. 278 column 3. You're looking at 279.

Unfortunately manually closing my roof didn't work. The key turned the motor but the something kept slipping. After about 10 rotations the roof moved about half a millimeter and i could here something slipping making the same sound that was made when i pressed the button, just not as much since i couldn't spin it nearly as fast. Has anyone had this happen to them???
