How can I verify if I have a Bose system in my 2004 C240?

 

if u have bose pkg, then u should have bose amp and sub...

 

The subwoofer grill in the package tray above the rear seats will have a "Bose" emblem.

 

This is the first time in my life that I did not want a BOSE... I plan to install a Pioneer Avic-D3 and that means I will have to rewire the whole setup..

 

I have a sub but no Bose Emblem..

it'll either say Bose or Harman Kardon. or nothing, meaning nothing

 

Then you don't have a Bose system to worry about trashing.

BTW, MJ50's link shows the Bose sub in the COUPE. Your sedan will have a sub in the package tray... Bose or not, in your case.

 

'Bose' will be written on the door mounter speakers. Atleast my coupe has that.

Related question: The Bose sound package for 2002 coupe says its is a 10 speaker system but I could only find 6 in my car and all of them in the front. I didnt find anything in the rear and no sub. Where are they hidden?

The coupe has 8 and the sedan has 10

One in the center dash, 2 tweeters in upper door, 2 front lower door, 2 in the rear part of the door, and 1 sub in the rear hatch on the right side.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the thing in my trunk is some sort of baffle for the rear speakers..

 

Ah, I forgot about that possibility. Could it be because in the 6 years I've owned my C320, I have seen just one C-Class Wagon in person anywhere in the Dallas area? It's easy to forget that MB even makes a C-Wagon. The sub does look like the one in the Coupe, including the location.

Alas, you caught me on this one, so let me correct your thoughts on the Bose speaker locations:

I'm thinking you are referencing the Coupe while the OP has a C240 Sedan.

In the SEDAN, there are ten Bose speakers:
1 x 2" center fill in dash
2 x 1.5" tweeter in mirror patches, upper front doors
2 x 6.5" wide-range in frt. door
2 x 2" tweeters, mounted coaxially with...
2 x 6.5" wide-range in rear doors (that's two speakers in each rear door)
1 x 9" low-mass Nd TM woofer in package shelf. (No hatch in the sedan, and the sub is on the driver's -- left -- side.)

The non-Bose Sedan will have 7 speakers. The difference is the absence of the center fill and the coax tweeters in the rear doors. There is a 9" woofer in the left package shelf. But none of the speakers are Bose branded.

 

if u have an amp in your trunk the back right corner, then u have the BOSE sound system in your car PIC attached
