misterious black box behind passenger side fog light
Hi everyone ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
unfortunately this morning I hit a metal bar on the highway on the way to work.
I got a 50% broken passenger side fog light and some bumps and scratches on the front lower right bumper.
Luckily I can fix the fog light plastic screw supports, but I need your help
to find out what is a black box behind the passenger side fog light.....
This unknown black plastic box has a little hose attached to it which goes upward somewhere, but I also see a pink little hose with a whyte connector that I honestly have no clue where it links-attaches to.
My baby is a CDI 220 W203 european model...year 2003.
Can anybody help me out to discover what the black box and this pink hose are for
???
Thanks a lot in advance to everyone
Please... I need your help if you can ...........![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)

Hi guys...
Here are the pictures of the "airplain" black box![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
There is another hose (pink) which is not in the picture and I have no clue what it is for and where it goes....
On top of this..... this morning my
baby decided not to let me drive over 2000 RPM.
Last night it was working fine and this morning ....![wall](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif)
Can it be the "magic box" ???![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Any idea is welcome.....(even the airplaine one)
Thanks again
Ric

are you in the UK ??
if so, check with the local MB boards there, because, being a European model, no one here in the USA (except for Dr. Sunil / aka SUNMAN) will know what it is.
You may want to e-mail Sunil (motorwerks@mac.com) or Steve (www.MBenzNL.com) to see if they can identify the box in the picture.
Please let us know, when you find out. At first I thought it could have been the cabin pre-heater, but that is a gasoline (petrol) driven device, and unless that pink hose goes back to your gas tank, then I doubt that's what it is.

some slow@$$diesels
that is just a simple vacuum reservoir - nothing weird about that...
I presume that yuou found it just underneath your headlight attached to the aluminum beam and not dangling around behind the foglight?

YES ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
you're right, MBenzNL.....![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
It was surely attached to the aluminum beam , but since the impact broke the plastic supports...it fell off.
As you see it has a white hose attached to it.....
But I also have a pink hose not shown in the picture......
Any idea where it has to be plugged ??![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Also... do you think that, since I removed it teporarely, this could be the reason why my car does not run higher then 2000 RPM ???
If I am not driving, if I accelerate, RPM go up all the way I want.
If I am driving, if I accelerate, RPM wil not go higher then 2000
Can It be the cause ???
PS:
Can you tell me more about the Box..... I'd appreciate it
Huge thanks![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)

YES..... ![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
It is correct.... I just plugged it back.
And about that black box..... MBenzNL was 100% right, and this is why the car is in allarm at the moment and does not run over 2000 RPM.
I called a MB dealer, and luckily they gave me these info.....
I am sharing it because maybe somebody (hope not) can run into the same problem I got
Always thanks to everybody
